The Silver Wolf (Diana and Talon) novel Chapter 233

Chapter Two Hundred Thirty Three

There it was. The truth Diana and Talon had spent the past week trying to hide. And Seraphina had known before she ever entered Black Howler. Diana leaned back slightly.

“You knew.”

Seraphina smiled.

“From the moment I learned how Ravenna and Thorne disappeared.”

Diana shook her head.

“Does Elara know?”

“No.”

“The other witches?”

“No.”

“The coven?”

“No.”

Diana stared at her suspiciously.

“Then why did you let Elara ask to look through my memories?”

Seraphina’s expression became almost mischievous/

“I was curious to see what you would do.”

Diana’s mouth fell open.

“You were testing me?”

“A little.”

The Grand Witch laughed softly.

“I apologize.”

“You do not look sorry.”

“I am not particularly good at pretending.”

Despite herself, Diana nearly smiled. Then another realization struck her.

“If you knew I helped Ravenna escape before coming here…”

Diana narrowed her eyes.

“… then you never came here expecting me to help you find her.”

Seraphitra’s smile slowly disappeared

“No”

The room became quiet again. Diana straightened.

“Then why did you come?”

Seraphina’s expression turned serious.

“Because I needed to know what kind of Silver Wolf Ravenna risked everything to protect.”

Diana froze. Seraphina studied her for several seconds.

“And now I know.”

She smiled softly.

“The kind who was willing to protect her in return.”

Diama looked away, emotion tightening her throat. Seraphina reached across the space between them and gently placed her hand over Diana’s.

“So I meant what I said.”

Diana looked back at her.

“Thank you. For giving my girl a chance to have the life I helped teach her she could never choose.”

Diana’s eyes burned. Seraphina squeezed her hand gently.

“And do not worry.”

Her secretive smile returned.

“I have no intention of telling anyone how Ravenna truly escaped.”

Diana studied her suspiciously.

“Not even the coven?”

“Especially not the coven.”

“Why?”

Seraphina leaned back.

“Because some truths do not need to belong to everyone.”

Her gaze moved briefly toward the closed office door, where Talon was almost certainly still waiting.

“And because I suspect your Alpha King is correct about one thing.”

Diana raised an eyebrow.

“What?”

“it the packs discovered that their Luma deliberately helped Thorne escape, many of them would see only The lives lost because of hirti.”

Seraphina looked back at Diana.

“They would not see the male who woke from Gideon’s nightmare.”

Her expression softened.

“And if my coven discovered what Ravenna did, many of them would see only a White Witch who abandoned her sacred duty for her mate.”

“But you don’t?”

“No.”

Seraphina smiled sadly.

“I see the young witch I raised finally being given the opportunity to choose something for herself.”

Diama remained quiet.

“And I intend to protect that choice for as long as I can.”

“I told you I liked her.”

“Both things can be true.”

“So even though you taught Ravenna how to create the charm, you don’t know where she chose to send us–or them?”

“And before you say anything, no, I do not want you to tell me.”
