The Stolen Heiress: The Billionaires’ Little Star novel Chapter 14

"It's dirty," Daisy said shyly.

The rural dirt roads were atrocious, and with the continuous rain recently, the potholes were filled with muddy water. One careless step, and the water would splash up.

Because Daisy was so short, the water easily splashed onto her, leaving her cross-body cloth bag completely soiled.

"It's fine, I'm not afraid of a little dirt. I used to go to rock concerts right in the middle of massive mud pits, getting covered in grime from head to toe. That's the whole vibe, understand?"

Daisy didn't understand, but she obediently handed over her bag.

The bag had been washed until its color faded, and it sported a blue patch tied off with a thin string. The string was too short for Xavier to actually wear it, so he could only carry it in his hand.

He wasn't sure what kind of 'backpack' this was supposed to be.

He walked alongside Daisy, looking for all the world like a young father taking his daughter to school.

The two trudged along the uneven path, and Xavier didn't say another word.

It was just hiking, wasn't it? If a kid could endure it, couldn't he?

Stone Creek Elementary.

It was the only school for miles around, with a total of seven teachers across all grades. Five were locals, and two were volunteers from outside the area.

There weren't many students either. Due to the severe lack of teaching staff, it was common for multiple grades to sit together in one classroom for lessons.

"It's only an elementary school..." Xavier was dumbfounded. "Then what school am I supposed to go to?"

Daisy looked up at him and asked softly, "Are you going to class with me?"

Xavier chuckled. "Do you know what grade I'm supposed to be in?"

"Sixth grade?" Sixth grade was the highest level Daisy knew of.

Xavier couldn't resist pinching her cheek. "I'm a high school senior."

Daisy brightened up a little. "I'm in third grade."

Xavier found it even more amusing. "Third grade in high school isn't quite the same as yours... Alright, let's drop you off at your classroom first."

The classroom ceiling was leaking a bit. Just stepping inside made Xavier want to curse.

"Oh, look, the little liar is here!" someone yelled, making the curses in Xavier's head multiply.

Because they were late, the first two periods had already ended. It was currently recess, and there were about eight or nine kids in the room. Some were younger than Daisy, while others were a head taller.

They stared at Daisy with expressions of pure disgust.
