Julian cast her a surprised look.
Chloe immediately realized her slip of the tongue. That wasn't something a little girl should say.
It wasn't fitting for a child.
Chloe quickly tried to salvage the situation. "I have a magic wand, I can conjure up a baby for Mrs. Sterling."
Julian stared at her for two seconds before laughing. "Haha, let's pass on that. Having Xavier is already enough of a headache for Autumn. Do you know who Xavier is?"
Chloe asked timidly, "Is he my new brother?"
Julian hesitated before saying, "I suppose you could call him that."
"I saw the certificates hanging on his wall. There are so many. He's very outstanding, so why would he give Autumn a headache?" Chloe said.
Chloe was doing her absolute best to praise Xavier. After all, what parent didn't like hearing compliments about their child?
But Julian wasn't moved by her thoughtful words; instead, his expression shifted slightly. "You went into Xavier's room?"
Startled by his tone, Chloe replied nervously, "I-I'm sorry. Mr. Butler said I could walk around if I was bored, so I just..."
Julian's face softened a bit. "Well, then it's not your fault. But don't go in there again."
Chloe gripped her palms tightly, never expecting she would make a mistake here.
"Xavier has a bit of a temper. If he comes back and finds out someone went into his room, he'll be furious. Even Autumn and I can't stop him," Julian said helplessly.
Chloe had originally hoped her family could suck up to Xavier. If she could be adopted and live under the same roof as him every day, she might even become his wife in the future.
But now, knowing Xavier's terrible temper, and knowing he had been lured away by Daisy, another thought uncontrollably sprouted in her mind.
If only I was older than nine.
I could give Mr. Sterling a child.
If he wanted a daughter, I'd give him a daughter; if he wanted an obedient son, I'd give him an obedient son.
She knew that an 'artist' like Autumn was obsessed with maintaining her physique. The Sterling family didn't have a second child likely because Autumn refused to give birth again.
Chloe dug her nails into her palms, despising her tiny body.
"Have some tea, Mr. Sterling." Chloe suppressed her myriad of thoughts and attentively poured a glass of water for Julian.
[Chloe is still very endearing.]
[Who wouldn't love such a sweet little girl?]
