The crew had a team doctor on hand who quickly grabbed the medical kit and cut away Xavier's pant leg. With the fabric gone, the vicious wound was fully exposed to everyone's eyes.
"It was likely caused by a flying piece of shattered rock. The fabric was too thin to block it," the doctor concluded.
The crowd gasped at the sight of the bloody gash. "He's going to need stitches, right?"
The doctor nodded. "Yes."
Xavier glanced down, surprisingly nonchalant about the whole thing. "It missed the major arteries and nerves, which is a good thing. Better than tripping in the chaos and breaking a bone. A silver lining, all things considered."
The director was practically weeping. *There's absolutely nothing silver about this lining! How are we going to explain this to Mr. and Mrs. Sterling?!*
"Can you stitch it here?" Xavier asked the doctor.
The doctor hesitated before shaking his head. "The environment isn't sanitary enough. We need to go to the Oakridge General Hospital. Let me disinfect it and apply a pressure dressing to stop the bleeding first."
More than anything, no one dared to take the responsibility.
This was the sole heir of the Sterling family! The only son!
Xavier was usually fiercely temperamental and impossible to reason with.
But right now, he was shockingly accommodating. He simply stretched out his leg and said, "Alright, do what you need to do."
The doctor quickly gathered iodine, medical cotton, and gauze...
Xavier had no desire to watch his wound being treated, so he turned his head to check on Daisy, intending to playfully tease her to cheer her up.
She always looked so ridiculously cute when she tried to act serious while comforting someone.
But as Xavier looked around, he realized Daisy wasn't by his side at all.
She had been pushed to the outer edge of the crowd. She stood there helplessly, her eyes red and brimming with tears, staring at him with a pitiful gaze.
She looked like a strong gust of wind could blow her away.
Xavier immediately waved her over. "Come here. Come here."
Daisy stumbled forward two steps and then froze in place.
Xavier was confused. "Is she scared?" He pointed at a random staff member. "Go bring her over."
The staff member nodded and carried Daisy back to his side.
Now that she was close, Xavier could see her face was deathly pale. Her eyes were unfocused, and her entire body was trembling.
Xavier quickly comforted her, "I got hurt by a rock. It's not like you did it. What are you crying for?"
Daisy struggled to open her mouth, her voice so thin it sounded like she couldn't catch her breath. "A-Are you... going to die?"
