The production crew desperately wanted to remind the young heir that he was here to film a reality show, not to do charity work. Why was he getting so passionately involved in something that wasn't his business?
But as the words reached their lips, they remembered that they were the ones who had driven this kid into a ditch in the first place, so they forced themselves to swallow their complaints.
Xavier was a force of nature. Once he made a decision, he acted on it immediately.
With Daisy tucked firmly under his arm, he stormed right back to the car.
One of Daisy's sandals fell off in the process.
She looked up, a little dazed, but from this angle, she could only see the sharp lines of the boy's jaw. His lips were pressed into a tight, forbidding line, making him look incredibly dangerous.
Yet she still struggled, calling out, "My Grandpa, Grandpa hasn't had his water yet..."
Xavier only cared about Daisy; he couldn't care less if anyone else lived or died. He scoffed, "He's got hands and feet, can't he do it himself? Why does he need a little kid to serve him?"
"Well, he doesn't have feet," Daisy said.
Xavier: "..."
He rubbed his face in numb disbelief, then looked back at the small child he had captured. There was barely any grief or pain on her face. Her eyes were clear and innocent, holding a quiet sort of resilience.
*...F*ck, she's even more pitiful now!*
Xavier reached over, rolled down the window, and yelled at the staff outside. "Her grandpa doesn't have feet! Go in there and feed him some hot water!"
The crew: *Huh?*
*Are we seriously doing volunteer work now?*
*Wait, wasn't this kid supposed to be the untamable devil of the Sterling family?*
The livestream chat fell into a sudden silence.
[...This Daisy girl is actually really tragic. Living in a broken-down house, looking after a disabled grandfather... Where is the rest of her family?]
[Wait, you guys actually believe this? This is obviously just a script for the show!]
Inside the car.
Xavier set her down and leaned over to buckle her seatbelt.
A scalding tear suddenly fell onto the back of his hand.
Xavier flinched as if he had been burned. His expression shifted, and he quickly checked Daisy's face, assuming he had accidentally brought up some traumatic memory.
But Daisy just looked up at him with tear-filled eyes. Her lips trembled as she whispered, "My shoe. I lost a shoe."
