The Stolen Heiress: The Billionaires’ Little Star novel Chapter 7

In the end, it was a staff member, exhausted as a dog, who drove to a nearby town just to buy a new pair of shoes.

Xavier handed them over to Daisy as compensation, and only then did he allow her to leave.

Wearing his oversized hoodie and with the massive hood pulled up, Daisy carefully dodged the puddles in the courtyard as she walked out of the Mayor's house.

She didn't look back at him even once.

For some reason, this annoyed Xavier immensely.

"Master Sterling," the Mayor practically plastered himself to the boy's side again.

Xavier finally glanced over his shoulder, scanned the Mayor's house, and spat out, "What a dump."

The Mayor: "..."

Forcing a painfully strained smile, the Mayor offered, "Are you hungry? Thirsty? Do you want to watch some TV? ...I even have a computer! If you want to play some video games, that's fine too."

Xavier pulled a long face. "Not playing."

Night soon fell.

Xavier's review of the dinner provided by the Mayor's family was: "What kind of pig slop is this?"

The Mayor brewed him a pot of tea, but the young master was equally disgusted. "This tastes like dishwater."

The production crew was utterly at a loss for words.

All they could say was that the familiar, tyrannical Xavier was back in full force.

Daisy was escorted home.

Her grandpa was still paralyzed on the bed, but miraculously, he didn't curse at her.

Daisy walked over to the dirt stove and lifted the lid off the pot. The potatoes inside had gone cold. She picked one up, peeled back a little of the skin, and began eating it as she walked over to him.

"Have a potato, Grandpa." She offered him the other one.

Grandpa Lowell didn't take it. His cloudy old eyes shone with an unnatural brightness in the dim light. His calloused hand suddenly shot out and grabbed Daisy's arm. "Who were those people today? Were they from the city?"

Daisy nodded. "Mrs. Manning said they're here to film a show."

*Film a show?* Grandpa Lowell didn't know what that meant.

He just smiled and said, "Good, good. You bring them back here next time."

Daisy blinked, not understanding why.

"Listen to your grandpa, and I won't sell you off," he promised.

A faint glimmer of hope sparked in Daisy's eyes, but it was quickly extinguished. She slowly shook her head. "They're not coming back."

"How do you know?" Grandpa Lowell demanded angrily. "Did you offend them today?"

Daisy remained silent.
