Chapter 119 I Need to Find Venus

Drip, drip, drip…

Water slid off the blanket and hit the floor.

Lucas froze, eyes wide in panic, not knowing what to do.

Then, he suddenly remembered the text Darcy had sent him earlier.

He glanced around and finally spotted a bottle of alcohol sanitizer sitting on the table.

Quickly unscrewing the cap, he poured it in a circle around the hospital bed, then, with shaking hands, flicked on his lighter.

The flame roared to life!

The wet footprints backed away fast, retreating toward the door until they turned into a puddle.

Lucas stared in horror as a swollen, hideous, ghostly face appeared in the reflection of the

water.

The face glared at Sophia on the bed, its mouth twisting open, spilling thick, black, foul- smelling water.

“Get out!!” Lucas shouted, his voice trembling as he splashed more sanitizer toward the door and lit it again.

The water ghost gave him one last cold look before vanishing into the pitch-black hallway.

Lucas did not feel any relief. He was shaking all over, scared out of his mind.

“There really is a ghost … Sophia’s being haunted by a water ghost…

“Venus … Yeah, I need to find Venus!”

He scrambled to grab his phone and called Darcy.

Darcy, seeing his name flash on the screen, picked up right away, worried about Sophia.

“Hey, Mr. Jynn…”

“Darcy! Call Venus right now! There’s really a water ghost here. Tell her to come to the hospital and protect Sophia!”

Darcy was silent for a couple of seconds before asking, “Mr. Jynn, you actually saw the water

Lucas quickly told him everything that had just happened. “I didn’t think ghosts were real, but it’s after Sophia!

“Darcy, you’ve always treated her like a sister. You have to help her!”

Thinking of that grotesque, bloated face, Lucas felt sick. Who knew what that ghost might do to his daughter?

Darcy sighed softly. “Of course I’ll help Sophia. But, Mr. Jynn… about Ms. Oracle …

“What about her? She wants money, right? Fine! I’ll pay!”

Now Lucas was the one panicking.

Darcy could not help but laugh bitterly. “It’s not about money. It’s about you.”

“Me?” Lucas blinked. “What about me?”

“You’ve insulted Ms. Oracle again and again. Now that you need her, don’t you think you should go ask her in person?”

That hit right where it hurt.

Lucas looked embarrassed. “I have to go myself? She’s not that important. I’m the CEO here! Why should I go begging her?”

“Mr. Jynn, what’s more important-your pride or Sophia’s life?” Darcy pressed.

He had honestly had enough of Lucas looking down on Venus.

If he really wanted help, he had to show some respect.

“Mr. Jynn, you need to show sincerity this time.”

Lucas turned to look at his daughter-pale as a sheet, weak and barely breathing-and finally nodded.

“Fine. I’ll go see Venus myself when the sun’s up.”

He did not dare leave Sophia alone, though, and was terrified the water ghost might come back during the day. So he ordered his assistant to stay by the bed with alcohol and a lighter, just in

case.

The assistant could only stare, speechless.
