Lucas was so panicked that he did not know what to do. In desperation, he blurted out, “Do you want me to get on my knees and beg you or something?”

Venus kept sipping her tea without saying a word.

Lucas gritted his teeth and actually got down to his knees. “Fine, for my daughter’s sake, I’ll do just that!

“Ms. Oracle, I’m sorry! I sincerely apologize to you! Please, save my daughter!”

Darcy was shocked that Lucas really got down on his knees. Carefully, he stepped in to plead, “Ms. Oracle, Mr. Jynn really has no other choice this time. I’m begging you too. Please, help him, save Sophia …”

Venus slowly put down her teacup. “Alright. For your sake, Mr. Weston, I’ll go.”

Lucas was stunned.

So, it was not about the money, but it was because of Darcy?

He, a big-time businessman, personally came to her place, humbly offering a huge check, and yet none of that worked as well as one word from Darcy.

Lucas felt embarrassed, but he did not dare say more.

As long as Venus agreed, everything would be fine.

Venus took the check and slipped it into her pocket. “Let’s go to the hospital.”

Halfway there, Lucas got a call from his company and had to leave for a bit. He told them he would meet them at the hospital later.

When they arrived at the ward, the secretary-who had already been informed by Lucas- greeted them politely. “Mr. Weston, Mr. Jynn already told me. You can take over from here. I’ve been on duty all night, so I’ll grab some breakfast and come back.”

Once the secretary left, Venus stepped up to check Sophia’s pulse.

Darcy noticed her frown and asked, “Ms. Oracle, how’s Sophia?”

Venus lowered her hand. “Her life soul is gone. If we don’t find it before dawn tomorrow, she

won’t make it.”

Darcy’s face changed. “Her soul is gone? But she was just grabbed by a water ghost and fell into

“Everyone has souls and spirits,” Venus explained calmly. “If the life soul leaves the body for too long, the person dies.”

She paused to think. “Let’s set up here first. When the water ghost shows up tonight, we’ll catch it and then summon her soul back.”

As she spoke, she pulled out a rosary from her bag.

Just as Darcy took it, Neil came in for rounds and caught sight of them.

“What are you two doing?” he yelled, shocked. “What is that? Are you trying to strangle Sophia?

“Venus, you’re seriously twisted!”

Neil turned to call security.

Darcy frowned. “Mr. Jynn already agreed to let us handle this. What’s it to you?”

“Like hell he would let Venus in to hurt Sophia!” Neil snapped. “And Sophia is my patient, and I’m her attending doctor. Of course it’s my business!

“You’re just taking advantage of Mr. Jynn being away to come here and commit a crime, aren’t you?”

Venus shot him a cool glance. “You’re recovering pretty fast, Neil.”

That one line instantly brought back last night’s disgusting memory. Even after several showers and layers of cologne, Neil could still smell that faint, rotten stench.

And that half-rotten fish tail that had slid into his mouth…

He gagged at the thought. “Venus, are you sick? Why would you bring that up again?”

That incident had made him the laughingstock of the entire hospital!

He had not even had the chance to confront her about it, and now she mentioned it herself.

Neil exploded. “You made me a joke to everyone! How could I have a sister like you?

“And now you want to hurt others? Come on, you’re coming with me to the police station!”

He reached forward to grab her.

Venus swung

the rosary and snapped it lightly across his shoulder.
