“Dr. Burn?” The secretary walked in with coffee and bread, startled to see Neil flailing his arms.
Neil hurried to say, “You came just in time! They’re trying to kidnap Sophia! Call Mr. Jynn right
now!”
The secretary blinked, then smiled. “Dr. Burn, you’ve got it wrong. Mr. Weston and Ms. Burn were invited by Mr. Jynn himself. He called me early this morning.”
Neil froze. “That’s impossible.”
Didn’t Lucas hate Venus just as much as he did?
Why would he let her near his precious daughter?
Neil eyed the rosary in their hands and suddenly got an idea. “Hey, maybe your boss has been kidnapped by them already! Why else isn’t he here?
“Sophia’s his everything. He’s been by her side for two nights straight.
“There’s no way he’d just leave her now.
“Call him on video, see if he answers!”
The secretary hesitated.
Darcy gestured. “Go ahead.”
The secretary started the call, but before it could even connect, Neil snatched the phone.
After about ten seconds, the call went through.
Before Lucas even appeared, Neil shouted, “Mr. Jynn, are you okay? Did Venus kidnap you? Venus is trying to kidnap Sophia! I caught her red-handed…”
He went on and on until Lucas’s face finally appeared on screen, looking extremely annoyed.
“Neil, I’m in a meeting. What are you babbling about?”
Neil froze as Lucas turned the camera around, revealing a full conference room.
Everyone had heard every word he just yelled.

Neil’s face went red instantly. “Mr. Jynn, I’m so sorry, I didn’t know you were in a meeting. I thought…”
Lucas cut him off impatiently. “I invited Venus myself. Don’t get involved.”
“But Mr. Jynn, Venus…”
Before he could finish, Lucas hung up.
The secretary took back the phone and cleared his throat. “See, Dr. Burn? I told you. Mr. Jynn informed me early this morning. I wouldn’t let anyone unauthorized in here. You’re overreacting.”
Neil’s face darkened as he glared at Venus. “What trick did you pull to make Mr. Jynn change his mind overnight?”
Venus ignored him and calmly told the secretary, “Please remove anyone unrelated. I’m a sage healer, and my techniques can’t be shared.”
The secretary nodded and said to Neil, “Sorry, Dr. Burn, but I’ll have to ask you to step out. Ms. Burn will handle it from here.”
Neil was fuming, his eyes nearly bulging.
The secretary even pulled the curtain shut and stood guard at the door to block his view.
Neil stomped his foot in anger. “Mr. Jynn is going to regret letting Venus treat Sophia! Someone who barely finished school could never compare to a top medical graduate like me!”
The secretary pretended not to hear, dutifully guarding the door.
The boss had been clear-don’t let Neil interfere. Whatever was happening inside was not his
concern.
With no way in, Neil stormed off to find Vienna.
Since Vienna’s fallout with her brother Oliver, she had been seeing Neil for treatment.
He had given her a scar-removal cream he developed, and though it worked well …
Vienna looked at her reflection, her face wrapped up like a mummy. Her eyes burned with rage. “All of this started because of Venus!”
It had just been a simple car accident, but because Venus stuck her nose in and led the charge against her brother, everything spiraled out of control.
Now her brother was in a psych ward, and she was left with dozens of scars on her face and a
