The Tower Reversed: Back to 18 (Venus) novel Chapter 68

Chapter 68 Ridiculous Demand

The apartment door was half open. Venus pushed it and walked in. The living room was a complete mess- like a storm had blown through. Broken glass and overturned furniture were everywhere.

Neoma sat on the floor crying so hard her eyes were swellen like walnuts.

Venus didn’t need to ask what happened. She quietly walked over and helped her up.

“Ms. Oracle!” Neoma threw herself into Venus’s arms, sabbing uncontrollably. “Earl doesn’t want me or the baby anymore!”

“The floor’s cold. Sit on the couch,” Venus said.

Neoma cried even harder, wiping her tears and snot all over Venus’s clothes.

Seriously? This is gross.

She quickly pulled out some tissues and handed them to her.

“He said he wants to break up with me. He even told me to get rid of the baby,” Neoma wailed. “That jerk! He promised he’d divorce his wife for me. And now he says he never planned to. He said he’ll never admit I or the baby exist!

“Ms. Oracle, what should I do?”

Venus didn’t answer right away. She couldn’t decide for her-no one could.

Keeping the baby or not, both paths would bring pain.

After a pause, Venus asked softly, “What do you want to lo?”

Neoma suddenly grabbed her shoulders, eyes wide and lesperate. “You must know some kind of spell, right? Something to make a man fall back in love? Give me one! I want him back! Or maybe a love curse- yeah! One that makes him trust me completely and love me only, forever!

“Ms. Oracle, give me both-the spell and the love curse!

Venus rubbed her forehead. “Ms. Day, you’re overthinking it. The human heart is the hardest thing to control. Even if such dark magic existed, could you handle the backlash it brings? The price would be far worse than anything you’ve faced.”

“I don’t care!” Neoma clung to her, wild with emotion. “I can’t be a single mom! My baby can’t grow up without a father! I don’t care what it costs me! I want Eal back!”

Venus shook her head. “I’m sorry. I won’t do that.”

Neoma froze, staring at her in disbelief. “Ms. Oracle, you’re a woman too. Can’t you understand how I feel? I just want him to love me again! What’s so wrong about that?”

Her tear flowed again. “Do you really want my baby to grow up without a dad?”

Neoma’s String of accusations only made Venus laugh.

“Let us get one thing straight,” Venus said calmly. “The person who ruined your life isn’t me-it’s you.” Her tone sharpened. “Ms. Day, I don’t owe you anything. Why are you acting like I’m the one who got you

She crossed her arms and added coolly, “I’m not here to judge you, but don’t try to guilt-trip me. I’m not signing up for your emotional blackmail. If you didn’t want this, you shouldn’t have made those choices in the first place!”

Neoma’s eyes widened. Tears streamed down her face.

“Then what do you expect me to do?” She cried.

“If I had another choice, would I be here begging you? You and Earl are the only ones who know I’m pregnant. He’s gone, and you’re the only one left who can help me!”

She grabbed Venus’s hand, voice trembling. “Ms. Oracle I know you can make him come back to me. Please, I’m begging you for the sake of my baby!”

Venus gently pulled her hand free. “Sorry,” she said softly, standing up to leave.

Neoma panicked. “Are you really going to let me die with my baby?”

Venus turned, smiling faintly. “You won’t do it.”

“What?” Neoma bit her lip, her desperation spilling over “If you won’t help me, I might as well die! Once people find out I got pregnant before marriage and broke up another man’s family, they’ll destroy me online. I’ll be ruined, humiliated to death!”

She sobbed. “Instead of waiting for that, maybe I should just jump now and get it over with!”

Venus’s cold gaze swept over Neoma’s desperate, calculating face. Her tone was calm, almost detached. “You’re just trying to use shock tactics to force my hand. Suicide threats?”
