Ava held her daughter tightly, sobbing uncontrollably.

“Ever since you were born, I haven’t given you a stable life,” she cried. “You’ve gone hungry more than once. Other kids wear lovely dresses, but you’ve always had to wear hand-me-downs. Every time we passed the amusement park, I saw how your eyes lit up with longing. Mia, my sweet girl. It’s my fault. I wasn’t strong enough to give you the life you deserved.”

She brushed her daughter’s hair back gently. “This time I’ll work harder. I’ll make enough money so you can have the same happiness other children have.”

Mother and daughter clung to each other, crying in silence.

Rowan cried nonstop at the touching scene.

“Ghosts are not as scary as people claim,” he muttered. “This is more touching than any TV show.”

He glanced at Venus. “How long can Mia stay in the mortal world?”

“Until midnight,” Venus answered softly. “When the clock strikes twelve, a reaper will come to take her away.”

“So soon?” Rowan’s voice cracked. “They just found each other again!”

Venus sighed. “All things must pass. But their bond isn’t over. They’ll meet again one day.”

The two stepped out of the office, leaving Ava and Mia their final moments together.

Neil came out of the director’s office, his face tight and serious. Seeing Venus and Rowan standing side by side only made his expression darker. “Dr. Hill, what are you two doing here?” he asked sharply.

Rowan opened his mouth to explain, but Venus cut in first. “None of your business.”

Neil’s expression darkened. “You think I care? This is a hospital. Try not to cause a scene.”

Venus tilted her head and smiled. “And what exactly had I done?”

“Me! You mess with my mind,” he snapped. He glanced around to make sure no one was watching, then gritted his teeth. “I don’t want your name showing up in any more weird hospital rumors. So please-get out. Now.”

Rowan frowned. “Dr. Burn, why are you being so harsh your sister? This isn’t your house; it’s the hospital. You can’t just throw people out because you feel like it.”

Neil shot him a glare. “This is a family matter, Dr. Hill. has nothing to do with you. Stay out of it.”

Rowan’s temper flared instantly. “Ms. Burn didn’t do anything wrong! She’s just trying to help someone. What’s so bad about that?”

“Help someone? You mean her?” Neil’s tone was heavy with sarcasm. The memory of Venus beating up Oliver in the street made his temples throb.

He snapped, “Do you even know what you’ve done? The Byrnes already heard about it. They wanted to break your arm as payback for what you did to Oliver. I was me who talked them down! Now all you need to do is apologize, and they’ll let it go.”

Rowan’s eyes lit up. “Wait, the Byrnes? As in Vienna Byres’s family, the one Dr. Blanton mentioned?”

Neil snorted coldly, “Exactly. It’s the same family.”

“Perfect timing.” he continued coldly. “Since you’re so here, you’ll come with me and apologize to Oliver in person.”

Venus tilted her head slightly, a faint smirk curving her lips.

Her big eyes locked on him with quiet intensity.

Neil shivered under her gaze. “Don’t look at me like that. If I hadn’t stood up for you, you’d already be missing an arm!”

Venus met his eyes calmly. “How did they find out so fast that I was the one who hit Oliver?”

Neil’s expression twitched. “You think they are ordinary people? Finding that out is easy for them.”

Venus smiled faintly. “You were the one who told her, weren’t you?”

Her eyes were cold and sharp, cutting straight through him.

Neil didn’t bother to deny it. He shot back righteously, “Yeah, I told Vienna. So what? I only told her the truth.

His voice turned chill. “And who made you the judge of justice, huh? You think you get to decide what’s right and wrong?
