Chapter 90 The False Healer

“Where’s Dr. Blanton?” Vienna asked, panic rising in her voice.

“In the lounge,” someone replied.

Vienna rushed there and found Herb flipping through a stack of rare medical cases.

“Dr. Blanton-Ms. Clayton, she-”

Before she could finish, Herb’s expression changed. Thinking something terrible had happened, he dropped the files and hurried after her to the patient’s room.

As soon as he entered, he checked Ava’s pulse. Feeling a faint but steady rhythm, he exhaled in relief. Half the weight lifted off his shoulders.

Then he noticed the silver needles in Ava’s body. Each one placed with perfect precision. His eyes widened in shock.

“Vienna, you’re amazing!”

The sudden praise surprised her.

“Dr. Blanton, what do you mean?”

Herb’s eyes gleamed with admiration. “Her energy flow has reversed, but you stabilized it just in time. Not only did you save her life, but you also cleared her meridians. Her pulse is completely normal now.”

He smiled proudly. “Vienna, with this level of skill, you won’t need twenty years to surpass me. A few years from now, you’ll already be one of the best. Your future’s limitless!”

Vienna froze.

Wait-did that mean Dr. Blanton wasn’t the one who performed the treatment?

Then who was it?

Neil’s voice cut in, filled with pride. “I knew it! Vienna’s a genius. “You just cured a paralyzed patient! You’re a true miracle worker!”

Vienna knew it wasn’t her work. But when she met Herb’s admiring gaze, something stirred in her chest.

That was the look she’d always dreamed of-the look of respect, of recognition.

She smiled modestly and said, “You give me too much credit, Dr. Blanton. I only did what I could.”

Herb nodded approvingly. “That’s the right attitude. Is this your family’s signature technique? Your bold placement and sharp precision match your prescriptions. Remarkable work!”

He was so impressed by Vienna’s talent that Herb thought of taking her as his mentee.

“Vienna,” Herb said with a kindly smile, “would you like to become my mentee? I plan to take just one more mentee before I retire. You’re bright and talented; I’d be honored to pass everything I’ve learned on to you. With my training, in five years your name could outshine even mine.”

Vienna froze for a second, hardly believing what she’d heard. She had no idea where Herb had seen her medical work before, but hearing that he wanted to take her as a mentee made her

heart soar.

“Dr. Blanton, you’re one of the greatest healers in all of Jugriyca,” she said, eyes shining. “Becoming your mentee is every medical student’s dream. I would be honored. Yes, absolutely, I want to be your student!”

Herb laughed in delight. “Good! Then we’ll choose a proper day to announce your arrival to all. Once that’s done, you’ll officially be my final mentee.”

Neil looked at her with open admiration, not jealousy. “Vienna, congratulations! Becoming Dr. Blanton’s student is the highest honor there is.”

Vienna could barely contain her excitement; if it were possible, she want to announce it to the world now. “Thank you for your trust, Dr. Blanton! I can’t wait to tell my grandfather about this.”

Neil quickly stopped her. “Vienna, what about the needles still in her body?”

Vienna glanced at Ava, noticing her condition had stabilized. She didn’t know who had actually placed the needles, but she figured removing them now would erase the evidence. Without hesitation, she said, “It’s fine. We can take them out.”

She reached forward to pull the silver needles.

o kill her?”

cold voice cut through the air.

The three of them turned sharply toward the door. Venus stood leaning against the frame, her shirt damp as if she’d just come from the rain or washed up in a hurry.

Neil’s face twisted with irritation. “You again? Can’t you stop haunting this place? Get out

already!”

Vienna ignored her and reached for the needles anyway.
