Chapter 91 I Dare You, Vienna!
Herb glanced at her in surprise.
Vienna’s medical skills were impressive, but her attitude … something was off.
Sensing his gaze, Vienna quickly composed herself and spoke in a calm, polite tone. “Ms. Clayton hasn’t fully recovered yet. She’s still in treatment. Ms. Burn, please leave the room and don’t interrupt.”
Venus said thoughtfully. “If I walk out now, you’ll end up killing her.”
Neil’s face darkened. “What’s that supposed to mean? Vienna’s skills are exceptional. Dr. Blanton said she saved Ms. Clayton. Once Ms. Clayton wakes up and goes through rehab, she’ll be walking again. How could you accuse Vienna of harming the patient?”
“Stop with that nonsense, you ignorant woman. Get out!”
Vienna knew the silver needles clearly had nothing to do with Venus, but she couldn’t stand being questioned, especially by someone like her.
Who did this woman think she is?
Some bumpkin from a mountain town, barely educated, dares to doubt me?
“I heard about you from Neil,” Vienna said coldly. “You grew up in the mountains and dropped out of school young because your family couldn’t afford it, right?
“Venus, you can deny my skills all you want; I don’t care what someone like you thinks.”
“But I won’t let you throw shade at Dr. Blanton! Ms. Clayton’s improvement is real. What proof do you have that I’d hurt her? Do you have any proof?”
Venus stayed calm. “Since you’re so sure you saved her, Dr. Byrne, do you dare to remove the needles?”
She paused, her eyes sharp. “If those needles weren’t yours, pulling them out carelessly could have serious consequences. Everyone here knows that, right?”
Neil scoffed coldly. “Vienna was the one treating Ms. Clayton. Of course, she knows where to remove them from. She doesn’t need your advice.”
He turned to her. “Vienna, take them out and show her.”
Vienna hesitated, her hands trembling slightly.

She knew it wasn’t her who placed the silver needles on Ava’s body.
But color had returned to Ava’s face, and her breathing was steady. Vienna tried to convince herself. If the patient’s doing better, taking them out shouldn’t hurt, right?
Herb noticed her hesitation. “Vienna,” he asked, puzzled, “you can remove the needles now. What are you waiting for?’
་་
Then, as if a thought struck him, he frowned. “Wait! Don’t tell me those needles weren’t placed by you.”
Vienna blurted out too quickly, “Of course they were!”
Herb nodded, satisfied. “Ms. Clayton’s looking much better. Go ahead, remove them.”
Vienna took a deep breath and glanced over Ava’s body. There had to be more than twenty needles in total.
Which one should I remove?
After a moment’s thought, she picked one from a minor pressure point and gently pulled it out.
Ava stayed asleep, her vital signs on the monitor steady and calm.
Vienna let out a sigh of relief.
Neil turned smugly toward Venus and challenged, “See that? Vienna’s a real medical prodigy! And you had the nerve to question her skills? Please.”
Venus gave him a look like he was a fool. She said, “I heard her family has a signature technique called the Aether Needle. Dr. Byrne must’ve studied it since childhood, right? Then you should know, removing that one needle at that pressure point could affect the whole body.”
Vienna scoffed. “Ms. Burn, don’t act like you understand things you clearly don’t.”
Venus smiled faintly. “Alright then, why don’t you tell me what that means? ”
Venus pointed at the silver needles arranged across Ava’s body. “The one you just pulled out,” she said calmly, “was the main hub. Without it, the balance is gone. Every needle you remove from now on will cause her life energy to reverse its flow.”
Her voice stayed steady, but her words struck like thunder. “If it’s mild, she’ll lose control of half her body. If it’s severe-she’ll die.”
Vienna’s face drained of color. Venus spoke so confidently, so clearly, that a ripple of unease rose in her chest.

“Dr. Blanton,” she asked uncertainly, “do you think she’s right?”
Before he could even answer, Neil darted forward, snatching one of the needles.
“Truth? I don’t buy it! You really think I’d believe a dropout’s nonsense?
”
Herb leaned in for a closer look and froze. His eyes widened as he finally saw how each needle connected to the pressure points. “Wait a minute! This pattern! This technique! It has traces of the Ninefold Needles!”
Then his face changed completely. “Crap! This is bad!” he shouted. “Put it back now!”
But it was too late.
The moment his voice fell, the medical monitor beside Ava started beeping wildly.
“Beep! Beep! Beep!”
Ava’s face turned ghostly white in seconds, all color draining away.
Neil stood frozen, sweat dripping down his forehead, his heart pounding in terror.
How is this possible?
She’d been recovering. Vienna had healed her.
I only pulled out one needle. Just one. How could everything go so wrong so fast?
