Chapter 92 The Real Healer

“Give it to me!” Herb barked, snatching the silver needle from Neil’s hand and quickly putting it back where it belonged.

The monitor’s beeping finally stopped.

“W-what just happened?” Neil stammered. Sweat soaked his back as he turned to Vienna, pale and panicked. “Vienna, I-I didn’t mean to!”

Vienna was equally shaken. She never thought removing one needle could kill someone.

Herb looked at the two of them-both white as sheets-and quickly pieced it together.

His voice grew stern. “Vienna, you inserted these needles yourself, right? You don’t even know how to remove them properly?”

He paused, eyes narrowing. “Or maybe you weren’t the one who placed them at all.”

Vienna froze, then forced a shaky smile. “I-I was the one. Of course I was.”

Herb’s face hardened. “Good. Then go ahead and remove the next one.”

Vienna’s hand shook. She took a small step back.

“You’re scared,” Herb snapped, eyes narrowing. “Because those needles weren’t yours to begin with!” His voice rose in anger.

“I despise liars more than anything. Why did you lie? You nearly got someone killed!”

Vienna’s face turned ghostly pale. She bowed deeply, guilt flooding her voice. “Dr. Blanton, I didn’t mean to take credit. When I came into the room, no one else was here. You all thought I was the one who saved her, and I-I didn’t explain right away. She was already safe, so I just stayed quiet.”

Her words came out shaky, full of panic. “Dr. Blanton, it’s my fault. Please don’t be mad. I’ll never do something like this again.”

Herb let out a heavy sigh, his face full of disappointment. “Vienna you really let me down.”

Neil’s expression twisted in fear. “If it wasn’t Vienna, then who was it?”

He glanced toward the patient, then back at the needles. “One’s already been pulled out. What do we do with the rest?”

Herb turned toward Venus, his tone firm but calm. “Girl,” he said, gesturing her forward.

“Everything you said turned out to be true. Tell me, did you see the sage healer who placed these needles? Where is that person now?”

Only a sage healer could perform such a unique needle technique.

Herb frowned, deep in thought. There must have been a powerful sage healer passing through, someone who stepped in to save Ava.

Maybe, just maybe, it was that legendary sage healer he met twenty years ago.

“Venus!” Neil blurted, anxious. “If you saw the healer that saved her, why didn’t you say so earlier? Tell us. Where is that person now?”

Venus crossed her arms and looked at the three of them, calm and steady. “Ever wonder why I know all this so clearly?”

Neil frowned. “Yeah. Why do you know?”

Venus turned to him with a faint smile. “Because the person who performed the treatment was

me.”

Neil burst out laughing. “You? Come on, even if you lived another eighteen years, you still couldn’t master something that advanced.”

Vienna’s eyes widened. She asked in doubt, “Ms. Burn, that’s not funny. This is about someone’s life. Please tell us the truth.”

Venus tilted her head slightly, amusement flickering in her eyes. “The one who’s not being honest here isn’t me-it’s you.”

Vienna’s face fell.

Neil couldn’t take this. He stepped forward and said, “Vienna just didn’t explain in time. Why are you making a scene?”

Herb suddenly stepped between them, pushing Neil and Vienna aside. His sharp, clouded eyes locked on Venus.

He just thought of something that sounded absurd yet strangely possible.

Herb took a slow breath and spoke a few names of rare herbs.

Vienna and Neil exchanged confused glances, not understanding what he was trying to do.

Especially Vienna; she was eager to show off her knowledge. She asked, “Dr. Blanton, those herbs are rare and expensive, but they don’t seem helpful for Ms. Clayton’s condition, do they?”

Herb gave her a long, meaningful look. “These herbs don’t sound familiar to you?”
