Milo was completely unapologetic. "Did he die of anger? Honestly, if he drops dead, it'll save you the hassle of a divorce. If he hasn't written a will, you can just inherit his entire estate and piss his family off."

Bianca glared at him and opened the back door to get in.

Hailey didn't know Bianca's husband was Mathis Jagger, but from their banter, she pieced together that Bianca was married—which explained why she hadn't worked for three years after graduation.

As Bianca tried to get into the backseat, Milo shooed her to the front.

"I'm not your chauffeur. Sit in the front."

Slightly exasperated, Bianca moved to the passenger seat.

Milo steered with one hand. "You can leave your lipstick or makeup bag right here in the center console. From now on, this seat is permanently yours."

Bianca looked out the window at the lush greenery. "I don't wear makeup."

Milo grinned. "Right, I forgot. You're naturally gorgeous."

Bianca didn't indulge him further, turning her attention to chatting with Hailey about their days at Kingsbridge University.

Milo actually enjoyed hearing about Bianca's past, though her entire world seemed to revolve around research. Her college days were spent either in the library or the lab.

"Didn't you ever get bored?" Milo asked.

"How could you get bored doing something you love?"

Hailey nodded enthusiastically in agreement.

Milo couldn't quite grasp their world, so he entertained them with wild stories from his time abroad.

Fortunately, traffic was light, and they arrived at the airport terminal right on time.

The Stellaride Computing van had already pulled up.

Fortunately, the Calder and Webber parents decided to group up and explore the city together, leaving the younger crowd to do their own thing.

Milo eagerly arranged cars for them.

Xanthe giggled quietly to Bianca. "He is so into you."

"I don't want to string him along," Bianca replied honestly. "I'm just not built for romance anymore. One marriage was enough. From now on, my career is all that matters."

Xanthe sighed. "He's such a great guy, and you won't even give him a chance. It's all because of that bastard Mathis ruining everything."

Bianca's face remained impassive. "My marriage to him was just a toxic curse. And curses don't bloom."

Listening through his phone miles away, Mathis felt those words slice through his chest like a blade.

Maybe... it really was time for him to let go.
