Summary for Chapter 147: The Transactional Marriage That Imploded

Read The Transactional Marriage That Imploded novel Bianca and Mathis Chapter 147 by Ansel Bick

Harriet didn't want to hand it over. She felt she was still perfectly capable of presiding over the Jagger family. Giving it to Bianca basically meant handing everything over to the young couple.

Where did that leave her eldest and second sons?

But Theodore forced her hand. He had told her before they arrived, "You're old now. The world belongs to the younger generation. Stop fighting with Mathis; you can't beat him. Bianca isn't the type to burn every bridge. She'll leave a way out for the eldest and second sons' branches of the family."

Reluctantly, Harriet pulled out the heirloom. "Bianca, from now on, you are the matriarch of the Jagger family."

Bianca was stunned. She had absolutely no intention of staying in the family.

She quickly declined, "Grandma, I'm too young. I don't have what it takes to be the head of the family. Besides, Mathis already has a much better candidate in mind. I really shouldn't take this."

But Theodore absolutely insisted. "I don't care what happens in the future. Right now, you are pregnant with Mathis's child and you are his wife. You have every right to hold it."

Harriet disliked Mathis, but she despised Cynthia even more. She spoke bluntly, "If the Jagger family is handed over to a woman who homewrecks other people's marriages, my husband and I wouldn't have any face left to show in public. We'd be the laughingstock of the city."

In high society, wealthy men might play around, but the unspoken rule was to avoid divorce at all costs.

The wife always remained the wife.

"Don't refuse, Bianca. If I say you can handle it, you can handle it."

Under Theodore's intense insistence, Bianca was forced to accept the pendant.

She fully intended to make Mathis return it himself.

The elderly couple took Bianca out for a nice meal, mentioning they were planning to head over to Harbor City to travel the next day.

As soon as she left the private room, Bianca called Mathis.

"Your grandparents gave me your family's heirloom. Take it and give it back to them for me."

A faint hint of amusement colored Mathis's voice. "You accepted it, you return it."

The driver who had rear-ended her immediately rushed over to check. Seeing her unconscious and bleeding heavily, they frantically dialed emergency services.

Milo happened to be calling her at that exact moment. Marcus Wilder had seen Theodore and Harriet having dinner with her earlier and wanted Milo to check if the old couple had given her a hard time.

A police officer picked up Bianca's phone. "Are you a friend of hers? She's been in a car accident."

Milo's heart stopped. He immediately got the hospital's name and raced over.

Bianca's condition was critical. The violent impact had put her on the verge of a severe miscarriage.

The doctors asked Milo how to proceed, and for a moment, his brain simply short-circuited.

He immediately called Mathis. Mathis hung up on him.

Milo sent him a frantic text: [Bianca was in a car crash. She's miscarrying right now. Pick up the damn phone!]
