Read The Transactional Marriage That Imploded novel Bianca and Mathis Chapter 198 by Ansel Bick
For the first time in two years, they weren't screaming at each other.
Looking at her peaceful, sleeping face, it was infinitely better than the burning hatred in her eyes when she was awake.
He desperately hoped she would finally let him take care of her.
It wasn't until around 3:00 AM that Mathis finally drifted off, his head resting on the edge of the mattress. Through the haze of sleep, he was jolted awake by the sound of Bianca sobbing.
She was thrashing, crying out in sheer agony. "Mabel, I'm so sorry! It's all my fault. I killed you. I couldn't even make the person who did this pay. I'm so useless."
A heavy, physical blow struck Mathis's chest. He shot up and looked at her.
She wasn't awake. She was trapped in a horrific nightmare.
His heart shattering, Mathis carefully gathered her trembling body into his arms. Her hot tears soaked rapidly into his shirt.
She was drenched in a cold sweat, as if she had been pulled out of a freezing lake.
Mathis immediately made a call, ordering the nanny to hail a cab and bring a set of Bianca's clothes to the hospital.
Her old clothes were out of season, so Mathis had ordered the staff to store them away.
But every single time a new seasonal collection dropped, he had the designer pieces delivered straight to the house.
Waiting for the day she finally came home to wear them.
Mathis held her tightly against his chest, murmuring into her hair, "I'm sorry. I was wrong about what happened to Mabel. Please... please forgive me."
The only response was her relentless, heartbreaking sobs. She cried for a very long time.
Mathis felt as though his heart was being fed through a meat grinder. Seeing her like this, he finally realized just how agonizing her existence was.
Because of the heavy sedatives, she remained locked in her night terrors, unable to fully wake.
She didn't even have the strength to fight him off when he changed her out of her soaked clothes. Seeing her bare skin, he realized she was even more skeletal than she had been on New Year's Eve.
He couldn't stop himself from gently tracing the smooth skin of her back, his fingers lingering over her dangerously sharp shoulder blades.
"Don't leave me again. I'm going to nurse you back to health. Just like you took care of me all those years ago."
Once she was dressed in dry clothes, he pulled her back into bed, wrapping his arms securely around her.
