Milo was suddenly nervous and quickly begged for mercy. "Don't do it, Ingrid. I'll wire you money, just let me off the hook this time. Wait until I actually get her to date me before you say anything. I really, truly love her. I've never loved anyone like this before."

But Ingrid outright refused to agree. "This isn't up for negotiation. There are plenty of fish in the sea. Why do you have to fixate on Bianca? No matter how great she is, she has another man's child. People in our circle are going to laugh at you."

Milo scoffed dismissively. "Let them laugh. What are they going to do to me? It's not like I'm committing a crime. Why is it that when a woman has a kid, she gets stigmatized, but when men have a bunch of illegitimate kids running around, nobody bats an eye?"

Ingrid was getting dizzy with rage. "Are you an idiot? The CEO of a publicly traded company has to maintain a flawless image. Dating a divorced woman is one thing, but she has a kid with her. Her ex-husband's family is probably incredibly powerful. Are you really trying to make a massive enemy for no reason?"

Milo let out a cold laugh. "If I can actually marry Bianca, given her social status and brilliance, it would be a ten thousand percent boost to my image. The outside world isn't as ancient and close-minded as you are."

Ingrid yelled, "What is so incredibly perfect about Bianca? Why is she worth all this?"

Milo glared back, visibly irritated. "What about you? Didn't you spend years obsessing over Mathis? What was so great about him?"

Ingrid's face instantly darkened. "I gave up on him, didn't I? Unlike you. She's already rejected you, yet you're still pathetically hovering around guarding her."

Ingrid pulled out her phone, ready to dial Marcus Wilder.

Seeing that she wouldn't let it go, Milo lunged and snatched the phone out of her hand.

He decided to go all in. "Ingrid, if you insist on telling Mom and Dad, I will move my entire company to Kingsbridge City permanently. I'm not that useless rich kid living off Dad's credit card anymore. I have my own empire now, and I can choose whatever woman I want."

In this exact moment, he was infinitely grateful that he had built his business to such incredible heights. It gave him the power of choice.

He didn't have to let someone else dictate his marriage.

Ingrid was completely choked for words and lunged forward to hit him.
