Read The Transactional Marriage That Imploded novel Bianca and Mathis Chapter 239 by Ansel Bick

"If you have hidden difficulties, why don't you just tell her right now?" Simon pressed. "Instead of making her endure all the storms you've caused. Cynthia has tried to destroy her over and over, and you just let her off the hook every single time. Is that what you call loving her?"

Whenever this question was raised, Mathis would always retreat into silence.

A sudden wave of intense irritation washed over Simon. "She's someone with an incredibly strong will. Do you have any idea how much agony she had to endure to be pushed into severe depression?

"You should be counting your lucky stars that she survived it and is still standing here today."

During the year and a half Bianca was gone, Simon had been constantly terrified she wouldn't make it. Thank God she had managed to push through and eventually release her new patent with Cillian.

Mathis sullenly downed another drink. "It's not the right time to tell her. Do you really think I wanted things to end up like this? If I could tell her, I would have. I spent the entire evening trying to please her, and she wouldn't even let me inside the house."

Simon shook his head. "There's no going back for the two of you. With Mabel's death standing between you, she is never going to forgive you."

Mathis's narrow eyes were as red as a rabbit's. He closed them heavily, and two streams of silent tears tracked down his cheeks.

The message Bianca had written in her short film kept replaying in his mind. *It turns out she did care about what we once had.*

Later, Simon opened the private room door to let Payton back in, only to find the hallway completely empty.

Simon called him, and a woman's voice answered—one that sounded eerily similar to Cynthia.

"We're done talking. Come over if you want."

Payton's voice quickly followed. "Never mind. I'm keeping a friend company over here. You and Mathis enjoy your celebration."

Simon didn't care enough to pry. He went back to the room, intent on getting Mathis blackout drunk in the hopes of prying the actual truth out of him.

Mathis also wanted to drown his sorrows, playing right into Simon's hands. It wasn't long before he was completely intoxicated.

But even in his drunken stupor, he didn't reveal a single secret. Instead, he just kept mumbling over and over, "Wife, I miss you. I miss you so much."

Simon eventually had Mathis's driver carry him out. Simon had no idea where Mathis was currently staying.
