Read The Transactional Marriage That Imploded novel Bianca and Mathis Chapter 314 by Ansel Bick
Bianca had an excellent memory, and the fireworks display he had orchestrated for Cynthia Quinn years ago was still vividly burned into her mind.
The memory struck her like a series of stinging slaps across the face.
Back then, she had been pregnant with Aveline while he was busy bending over backward to please another woman. Having those exact same tactics used on her now just made her feel physically sick.
"I have zero interest in your fireworks," she said coldly. "They disgust me, just like you do."
Mathis sobered up, admitting his faults directly. "The fireworks back then weren't just to make Cynthia happy. I did it to piss you off because you were so determined to divorce me.
I was miserable. I admit I failed you, but the past is in the past. You can't keep drowning in it forever."
She had always known Mathis was cold-blooded, but these past two years had proven he was even worse than she thought.
Thank God she had already ripped him out of her heart.
"Since the past is apparently 'in the past', you don't need to try and please me anymore," she mocked. "Besides, your attempts at romance only annoy me."
Deciding she had a point, Mathis made a quick phone call and canceled the fireworks show.
"I can give you anything you want," he said softly. "Even my life."
She pointed toward the sealed balcony. "If you jump off that balcony right now, Mathis, I'll mourn you for the rest of my life."
He replied with shameless ease, "I said I'd give you my life, not that I was ready to return to the dust. So, I'm not jumping."
"You're sick."
After cursing him out, Bianca went to the study to find a book, quietly waiting for this so-called 'result' he kept promising.
She had absolutely zero expectations. This man had never kept a single promise to her.
By midnight, the day had technically ended. Mathis still hadn't delivered any news, though he seemed to be texting someone non-stop.
Ignoring him, Bianca opened the door to leave, only to find several massive bodyguards blocking her path.
She was forced to turn back. "The day is over. Didn't you say you'd let me go if you couldn't give me a satisfactory answer? Do you have any concept of integrity?"
She wasn't particularly worried about Milo's injuries, just that he would be frantic with worry.
She was an engaged woman now. Spending the night in a hotel room with her ex-husband—how did that look?
Mathis was probably just doing this to spite Milo, spinning ridiculous lies to keep her trapped here.
"Just wait a little longer," he urged, desperation bleeding into his voice.
The acquisition funds had already hit Dawnstar Capital's offshore accounts. He knew tonight wasn't going to be a quiet one.
Before he received any official notice from his superiors, his phone rang. It was Cynthia.
He had already changed her contact name to 'Cynthia Quinn', dropping the affectionate nicknames entirely.
Bianca let out a mocking laugh, though a sharp pang of pain shot through her chest. With Mathis protecting her, Cynthia had clearly dodged another bullet.
"Pick it up. Your woman misses you."
