Read The Transactional Marriage That Imploded novel Bianca and Mathis Chapter 337 by Ansel Bick

Bianca didn't look up again, focusing entirely on her meal, but Mathis dragged his feet, clearly reluctant to leave.

"When is Aveline coming home?" Bianca asked softly. "I want to spend the weekend with her."

"I'll call my mom right now," Mathis replied instantly.

He was willing to use any excuse just to stay in her presence a little longer.

Zane had specifically advised him: "Mr. Jagger, Ms. Baldwin is a very proud woman. One of you has to swallow your pride eventually. There's no shame in a man lowering his head to coax his wife. Especially after the whole Cynthia scandal—most women wouldn't be able to just move past that."

And so, Mathis finally lowered his arrogant head.

On the other end of the line, Evita was sobbing hysterically. "Mathis, the police just came and arrested your sister! Why didn't you stop Cynthia from ratting her out?"

Mathis kept his tone calm as he tried to reason with her. "Mom, Rosalind crossed a massive line this time. She literally tried to ruin Bianca's face. If she doesn't face the consequences now, she's going to do something much worse later. Learning this lesson is good for her."

Hearing this, Bianca's heart skipped a beat. Mathis was actually keeping his word.

He wasn't letting Rosalind off the hook.

However, the Jaggers worshipped Rosalind, and this situation was far from over.

Knowing them, they'd probably find a way to make Bianca suffer for this. It really paid to have a powerful family protecting you.

Evita wailed, "Your sister is only nineteen, and you're letting her go to jail! She's been pampered her whole life; she can't handle that kind of suffering.

You're throwing her straight into the fire! I know you love that Bianca girl, but you can't sacrifice your own flesh and blood for some woman!"

Mathis's face darkened. "Mom, yes, I'm doing this for my wife, but I'm also doing it for Rosalind.

You've spoiled her until she thinks she's above the law. If she's willing to permanently disfigure someone today, she'll kill someone tomorrow.

You know the saying—spoiling a child is the same as ruining them.

You certainly never pampered me like this. All you ever told me was that I had to be strong so I could protect you and my sister."

He had been forced into independence at the age of six, hardening himself until he was virtually indestructible.

When his sister was born three years later, he watched his parents and the entire extended family shower her with an unconditional love he had never once experienced.

The only time he ever felt truly indulged was during his marriage, when Bianca had catered to his every whim for three years.

He had basked in her complete submission, but he had destroyed her in the process, and now she didn't want him anymore.

Evita refused to listen to a single word he said, continuing to scream and cry through the phone.

Massaging his temples, Mathis tried to soothe her a few more times before finally just hanging up.

His mood ruined, he left the food behind and turned for the door.

Bianca's heart softened slightly. She picked up the plate of breakfast and shoved it back into his hands.

Her tone was calm and measured. "Thank you for doing this for me. I hope you stick to your principles this time. Don't back down and let your sister go halfway through."
