Read The Transactional Marriage That Imploded novel Bianca and Mathis Chapter 349 by Ansel Bick
Theodore, once the imposing patriarch of the Jagger family, now looked like a vulnerable old man pleading with his grandchild.
Bianca remained silent. Looking at Theodore's earnest face, she couldn't help but see flashes of her own late grandmother.
If her grandmother hadn't died because of her, maybe she wouldn't be living in such agony right now.
Theodore pleaded again, "Child, I truly just want to proudly announce to everyone that you are my granddaughter-in-law.
Mathis wouldn't allow it before, and my health was failing, so I never got the chance. I've done you a great disservice.
Please, just grant me this one wish."
The old man had never asked her for anything.
After a moment's thought, Bianca finally agreed.
"I'll go. But you have to know that I am still divorcing Mathis. Please don't try to play matchmaker."
Theodore assured her he wouldn't force her into anything. He genuinely cared for the girl sitting across from him.
"Fair enough. You two live your own lives, and I won't interfere. I simply want the world to know what a remarkable woman was part of my family, and what an exceptional mother Aveline has.
Even if you go your separate ways, it's enough for me that you were once one of us."
Bianca smiled softly. "You think too highly of me. In the eyes of most investors, I'm just a tech asset.
Our country isn't lacking in talent, and top companies recruit globally now. I still have a long way to go."
Harriet immediately protested. "Why are you being so modest? That Cynthia girl stole other people's work and flaunted it all over the internet. You have real talent—you should show it off!
Why hide in the shadows?"
Harriet absolutely despised Cynthia for being a homewrecker. Even though Cynthia was in prison, the old lady had pulled strings to make sure her life inside was miserable.
Interestingly, Cynthia hadn't actually been involved in the massive money-laundering scheme. Mathis had thrown her in jail solely on the charge of repeated attempts to harm Bianca.
What truly shocked Harriet was discovering that before Payton was arrested, he had actually been using his family's connections to protect Cynthia.
Harriet had looked into it and realized their relationship was far from innocent.
She had strictly forbidden her nephew from trying to bail Cynthia out, despite his obvious lingering attachment to her.
Harriet couldn't fathom how that woman managed to bewitch so many men.
Bianca simply replied, "There's no point in being flashy. I have no interest in playing the venture capital game. I'd rather just put my head down and work on my tech."
Theodore admired her grounded approach. He said proudly, "If the investors don't see your value, that's because they're blind. But I have excellent vision.
And look at how much Cillian values you. You were gone for over a year, and he kept the Chief Technology Officer position entirely open for you. The board gave him hell for that."
