She laughed warmly. "You're always the one fearlessly charging forward for us. I'll be thrilled to have you in Kingsbridge. We can spend all my free time together."

Milo's Adam's apple bobbed. "Will you move in with me?" he asked.

His voice dipped into a low, seductive register, sending a sudden thrill down Bianca's spine.

"Once my divorce decree comes through, yes. Is that okay?"

Milo let out a low chuckle. "Of course. Anything you want, I'll agree to.

"Just meeting you was like hitting the jackpot. Everything else is just a bonus."

His words made Bianca's heart bloom with joy, a sugary sweetness settling deep in her chest.

"Don't sell yourself short, Milo. There's no imbalance of power here. I want an equal partnership."

Milo's rich laughter filled the car.

Moments later, she heard the roar of a sports car engine over the line. Deep in the honeymoon phase, they had endless things to talk about, chatting the entire drive until she arrived at the office.

Bianca warned him that her new project was going to consume her time, and she might end up unintentionally neglecting him.

Milo whined playfully but accepted it, simply demanding video calls or voice memos whenever she had a spare second.

Once his new game launch stabilized, they could finally be together.

She couldn't wait to have him by her side.

The moment Mathis arrived at the office, he received a call from Dr. Mills.

When she asked about his current intentions regarding Bianca, he stated flatly that he wanted to reconcile. They had been in love since they were young, after all.

He refused to let a few misunderstandings tear them apart forever.

As for the two ruthless backup plans he had designed to sabotage her relationship with Milo, he kept those entirely to himself.

Dr. Mills wasn't going to help him win his wife back anyway; she wouldn't even share the details of Bianca's condition.

Dr. Mills sighed softly. "You've caused your wife an immense amount of psychological trauma. Being near you feels suffocating to her.

"Her mood is chronically low. Her work and your daughter are the only things holding her together.

"My professional advice is that you stay away from her until she fully recovers.

"Her depression is already severe. If you continuously trigger her, her condition could spiral out of control.

"If that happens, you might find her dead in a corner somewhere, having taken her own life."

The words sent a violent shockwave of panic through Mathis.

He suddenly remembered Bianca's chilling comment about his mother's suicide—people who genuinely want to die do it quietly and alone. She had already rationalized it. She had already planned for it.

If she died... what the hell was he supposed to do with all this love he had for her? Where was he supposed to put it for the rest of his miserable life?
