Read The Transactional Marriage That Imploded novel Bianca and Mathis Chapter 40 by Ansel Bick
Bianca happened to look up just in time to witness the entire exchange. Mathis and Cynthia were completely brazen now, flaunting their romance in broad daylight. She truly had been blind when she fell for him.
She glared at the Quinn father and daughter with pure disgust. The older one stole her family's company; the younger one stole other women's husbands. Truly, their toxic genes were passed down flawlessly from generation to generation.
Bianca had always been fighting a lonely battle, but with Mathis throwing his entire empire behind them, she had zero chance of ever shaking the Quinn family's foundation.
Forcing her chaotic thoughts aside, she lowered her eyes back to her screen. There were only a few weeks left before this project was finished.
She was sick to death of looking at those two cheating scumbags every day.
She decided to work overtime every single night to finish the project ahead of schedule. The sooner she was out of here, the sooner she'd never have to look at them again and get her peace of mind back.
Bianca turned to Miles. "Are you guys okay with working late tonight?"
Miles shrugged casually. "We're tech guys; overtime is our middle name. You don't even have to ask. But I'm not sure if the princess in the glass office is going to be thrilled about it."
Bianca didn't follow his gaze. She kept her tone flat. "She's just a mascot. Whether she stays or leaves has zero impact on our actual progress."
Miles nodded. "Fair point."
Bianca's morning sickness had been flaring up badly the past two days, ruining her appetite. She barely managed a couple of bites of dinner before returning to her desk.
Feeling guilty for dragging the entire team into crunch time just because she wanted out, she ordered boba tea for everyone.
Because of the baby, she stuck to water, avoiding the caffeine and sugar.
Miles looked at her curiously. "You're already so slender, and you're still afraid of the calories in milk tea?"
Bianca offered a polite smile, quickly lying, "My sleep has been terrible lately, so I'm trying to cut back."
Because Bianca was leading the team into overtime, Cynthia was forced to stay, no matter how much she hated it.
Mathis had insisted. "You have to maintain absolute authority over your team."
Cynthia pouted, whining, "Then you have to buy everyone late-night snacks so she doesn't steal the spotlight. Please?"
"Alright."
As the doors slid shut, his voice broke the silence. "This project isn't urgent. There is no reason for you to work yourself to death like this."
Bianca let out a cold laugh. "I don't want to come to work every day and stare at you and your mistress."
Mathis's brow furrowed. "I recovered your phone data for you. Do I not even get a 'thank you'?"
Bianca looked up at that flawlessly sculpted face. "Did you catch brain damage from your woman? You're the one who deliberately smashed my phone in the first place. Fixing it was the bare minimum you owed me."
Mathis's eyes darkened, masking whatever emotions were churning beneath the surface. "If I did what I was supposed to do, then shouldn't you do what a wife is supposed to do? Are you coming home?"
Bianca's gaze turned glacial. "That is your house. I have my own apartment."
His voice dropped to a terrifying chill. "If you're so capable, then don't ever come back."
A smile of pure disdain crossed Bianca's lips. "It's a deal."
Mathis suddenly reached out and grabbed her arm tightly. "Does it physically hurt you not to piss me off?"
