Read The Transactional Marriage That Imploded novel Bianca and Mathis Chapter 42 by Ansel Bick
Cynthia was very pleased with Bianca's outburst. She discreetly recorded the conversation, planning to let Mathis see this woman's true colors.
"Harriet is hosting a dinner party at home this Friday. The spiritual advisor said you have to be there. You need to come back; Mathis will be there too."
Bianca looked at her like she was an idiot. "Your father is a scheming fox, and your mother is calculating. Why didn't they pass on even half a brain to you? My last name is Baldwin, and yours is Quinn. I have absolutely nothing to do with your family."
Cynthia threatened, "Harriet said that if you don't come home, she'll have your father struck from the family records."
Bianca simply laughed in exasperation. "You people took over my father's company; do you really think I care about some empty title in a family registry? If Mathis wants to keep you company, let him. It has nothing to do with me.
And stop bothering me, or I'll go crazy and post my marriage license with Mathis online. Do you think you'd still be able to play the perfect socialite then?"
But Cynthia wasn't afraid in the slightest. "Bianca, do you honestly think you can sway public opinion all by yourself? You saw how fast Mathis handled things last time."
Bringing that up only fueled Bianca's anger. "Do whatever you want. I'm not going."
She slammed the door on her way out.
The moment Bianca left, Cynthia sent the audio recording of their conversation to Mathis.
Mathis was probably busy, as he didn't reply for a long time.
That evening, Mathis finally texted back: [Bianca will be there.]
That night, Bianca worked overtime until ten again, while Cynthia, the so-called director, had left early.
The team underneath her was quite dissatisfied, feeling they were being led by a total incompetent.
Miles Hollister, however, didn't seem to mind. Bianca couldn't help but ask him, "Why aren't you angry?"
Miles answered, "Nothing to be angry about. As long as I get paid enough. I don't come to work to make a name for myself."
Bianca admired his mindset. "You really know exactly what you want. It's a happy way to live."
Simon added one last reminder: "No matter what happens, make sure you stay in a good mood during your pregnancy."
"I will!"
The housekeeper Bianca had hired made her a hearty breakfast. She was in a pretty good mood today; Cillian was already actively pushing for her transfer to the Southern Division Branch.
Once that happened, she wouldn't have to see Mathis anymore.
Hector Goodwin had told her, "As long as you can endure the legally mandated separation period, even Mathis with all his power won't be able to overturn the court's ruling. Not unless he changes the law."
Bianca had smiled and said, "Alright, I'll definitely hold out until that day."
But her good mood didn't last long.
As soon as she reached the underground parking garage, Mathis stepped out of his car and blocked her path.
