Unfortunately, she was useless.

Just as Bianca had predicted, Harriet failed to stir up any real trouble. Before she could even fan the flames, Mathis's people had already suppressed the rumors.

As for their claim that Bianca had taken the thirty million, Mathis found out the truth with a simple background check.

When Quincy reported back to him, Mathis merely commented, "She's not entirely stupid."

Quincy wondered whether 'she' referred to Bianca or Harriet, but he didn't have the guts to ask. Mathis never let his emotions show.

It seemed the only person who could stir his feelings was Cynthia.

Cillian arrived at Progenix promptly at six and headed to the cafeteria to grab dinner with Bianca.

Bianca was surprised. "Cillian, you're still as humble as ever. You've got so much money now, yet you're still willing to work overtime and eat cafeteria food with me."

Cillian replied calmly, "I haven't forgotten my roots. No matter how much we're worth, we both started out as tech nerds."

Bianca nodded. "Yeah, that's true."

When Mathis and Cynthia came out, they saw the two of them waiting for the elevator. Bianca had a habit of buying blind boxes online whenever she was stressed, and she had them shipped to the office.

Cillian had brought them over for her, teasing, "I really don't get why you like these blind box things. It's like kids' toys. You don't strike me as being that childish!"

In Cillian's eyes, Bianca was often so rational it bordered on cold-blooded.

Bianca laughed. "Cillian, you're only three years older than me, why do you sound like a grumpy old man?

Every blind box series tells a story, and the vibes are impeccable. Plus, every time I open one, my heart races. It's the best!"

Seeing how happy she looked, Cillian smiled indulgently. "As long as you're happy. I'll never understand that stuff."

Bianca said, "You don't need to understand it. You just need to keep paying me."

Everyone laughed. Aside from Cynthia, the entire office was in high spirits.

They all knew Cillian's involvement would speed up the project. Once the R&D staff finished their tasks, they'd get their bonuses.

Almost everyone shared Miles's mindset: they were just here to make money.

What surprised Cillian was that Mathis stayed and worked overtime with them until ten, instead of going back to keep his mistress and illegitimate child company.

Cynthia, the so-called R&D head, had bolted at eight.

The three of them walked out of the office area together.

Cillian couldn't help but say, "Mr. Jagger, is Dawnstar Capital not busy lately? You're stationed at Progenix every day. People might mistake you for the CEO here."

Having a man parade his mistress around in front of his wife every day—no wonder Bianca was annoyed.
