Summary for Chapter 49: The Transactional Marriage That Imploded

Read The Transactional Marriage That Imploded novel Bianca and Mathis Chapter 49 by Ansel Bick

Unwilling to accept defeat after seeing the trending topics, Harriet had someone release a photo of Bianca and Mathis together, captioned: Mathis Jagger's original wife.

Back when Bianca was studying at Kingsbridge University, she had been the campus belle. A classmate had once posted her ID photo online, causing quite a sensation.

Bianca herself had no interest in that kind of attention; her one true love in life was working with code.

Harriet assumed that with Bianca's stunning looks and academic halo, the revelation would spark a massive backlash against Mathis.

However.

The leak vanished without a trace almost immediately. Barely anyone saw it.

It was as if whoever was pulling the strings had perfectly anticipated Harriet's move. Furious, the old lady threw the bowl of soup a servant had just brought her onto the floor.

Everyone in the Jagger Estate held their breath, terrified to make a sound.

Harriet cursed bitterly, "Mathis Jagger, you really are a piece of work."

When Xanthe saw the trending posts about Cynthia and Mathis, she was so furious she wanted to call Bianca to vent. But remembering Bianca's earlier warning, she swallowed her words.

She grabbed some drinks and headed to Progenix to find Bianca.

Cillian hadn't gone to the Quinn family banquet tonight either. He had received an invitation but immediately declared he was busy.

He was at Progenix, continuing to work on the project with Bianca.

"Bianca, have some boba."

Bianca glanced up from her monitor. "No thanks, I've been..." She fished around for an excuse. "It's my time of the month..."

Xanthe thought she was acting very weird. It seemed she had completely quit both drinks and coffee.

"You're not still upset over that guy, are you?"

Bianca didn't even look up as she kept working. "I don't have time to be upset. I've got a mountain of things to do. I even dragged Cillian into working overtime."

Cillian smiled faintly. "It's my company. I'm making money for myself."

Bianca replied, "Things are different now."

Xanthe spaced out for a moment before her mouth dropped open. "Bianca, you're not pregnant, are you? Oh my god. No wonder you've been so sleepy lately, skipping coffee and boba, and avoiding rollercoasters."

Xanthe glanced at Bianca's stomach. She was very slender; there was absolutely no sign of a bump.

"Please tell me the baby isn't that mutt Mathis's!"

Bianca gave a slight nod. "It is his, but he doesn't know, and I don't plan on telling him."

Xanthe couldn't wrap her head around it. "He already has an illegitimate kid. Why are you still having his baby?"

Bianca sighed. "Just bad luck. I have a thin uterine lining. The doctor said if I get an abortion, I might never be able to have kids again. I'm only twenty-six. I don't want my future choices stripped away."

Lately, she often thought that if she hadn't been completely out of options back then, she never would have married Mathis.

If she hadn't married him, her career would probably be in an even better place. She wouldn't have had to watch him flaunt his mistresses in her face. None of this would have happened.
