Summary for Chapter 50: The Transactional Marriage That Imploded

Read The Transactional Marriage That Imploded novel Bianca and Mathis Chapter 50 by Ansel Bick

Xanthe couldn't hold back anymore and spent the entire drive cursing out that bastard Mathis.

Bianca listened quietly, feeling numb. She had already slowly carved Mathis out of her heart.

Even though the process was agonizing, it was a necessary step in letting go of this marriage.

No matter how much she bled, she had to cut him loose.

Just as Bianca's car reached the entrance to the community's parking garage, she spotted Mathis's car.

He was leaning against the car, a tall, imposing figure, quietly smoking a cigarette. The smoke veiled his striking features, masking any emotion.

Bianca hadn't even known he smoked.

Suddenly, she felt a profound sense of pity for herself. He had a child behind her back, and she hadn't known. What did it even mean to live under the same roof?

Xanthe got furious just looking at his face. Bianca warned her, "Don't get out of the car. I'm afraid you might let something slip. He won't do anything to me."

Xanthe said indignantly, "What if he finds out? Is he going to try and steal the baby? Doesn't he already have a kid with that tramp?"

Bianca replied, "He might try to strip me of my right to become a mother."

Xanthe was in sheer disbelief, her mouth hanging open for a long time.

The summer heat radiated up from the pavement. In the hottest month of the year, Mathis was enveloped in a freezing aura, acting as if she were the one who had cheated, not him.

Bianca, still wearing her usual t-shirt and jeans, faced him with a makeup-free face full of profound indifference.

Mathis reached out as if to brush her hair. He reeked of alcohol. No one at the Quinn family banquet would have dared force drinks on him, which meant he must have been in high spirits tonight.

Makes sense. With the woman he loved by his side, why wouldn't he be riding high?

Bianca let out a long breath. She was completely exhausted from tangling with him.

That night, Xanthe pressed her ear to Bianca's stomach, listening intently, but after a long while, she heard nothing.

"Why isn't there any movement?"

Bianca laughed and swatted her lightly. "They say you can't feel anything until four months. I'm only at two. It's way too early."

Xanthe declared, "I'm going to start saving up money right now. I'll be the baby's godmother and buy her lots of things. Even though that mutt Mathis is a monster, he does have a good face. Your baby is going to be gorgeous."

Under the glow of the bedside lamp, Bianca's face softened. "Okay! But don't go running your mouth. Cillian doesn't know either. I plan on hiding the pregnancy for as long as I can."

Xanthe looked up at her determined expression. "Are you going to claim you cheated on that mutt Mathis? What if he loses his mind?"

Bianca replied, "He doesn't have time to worry about me right now. He's too busy playing the perfect couple every day. By the time the pregnancy shows, he won't have the legal right to force me to give up the baby anymore."
