Read The Transactional Marriage That Imploded novel Bianca and Mathis Chapter 88 by Ansel Bick
Mathis's face darkened drastically.
He made a call to Quincy. "Adjust my schedule. I'm going on a business trip to Austin City."
Meanwhile, at the restaurant, Milo gentlemanly pulled out a chair for Bianca. "You're incredibly picky about your food, so I specifically booked this place. The best chef is usually in Harbor City, but he happens to be in town today, so I had him whip up something special for you. We can't have you starving and getting too skinny in Austin City; people might think I'm mistreating you."
Bianca cut him off. "Your wording is way too suggestive. Whether I lose weight or not has nothing to do with you. We barely have any relationship to begin with."
Milo liked being direct. "Bianca, I'm handsome, I'm rich, and I don't mess around with random women. Do you really not have any interest in me at all?"
Bianca shook her head. "None at all."
Milo was surprised by her bluntness, but quickly adjusted his attitude. "Then you have terrible taste in men. But that's fine. I like you, and I'm going to pursue you."
Feeling a headache coming on, Bianca flatly stated, "I'm married."
Milo didn't believe her. "You don't even wear a wedding ring, and I've never heard you mention a husband. You're talking nonsense."
Bianca replied, "My marriage is a secret. My husband forbids me from publicly announcing our relationship."
The more Milo listened, the less he believed her, assuming she was just making things up to reject him. "Is this really necessary? You're going this far and making up this kind of lie just to turn me down? Are you some sort of unpresentable wife? If I married you, I'd make a dedicated account just to flaunt our relationship online every day. Other guys would die of jealousy."
Bianca found it both amusing and exhausting. "Thank you for the compliment, but I truly am married. Don't waste your time on me. Besides, with your family's wealth, they would never accept me."
She now had serious trauma when it came to wealthy families. People really shouldn't try to cross social classes through marriage; you simply couldn't blend in.
Every time she recalled those three dark, suffocating years of her marriage, she felt like she couldn't breathe.
Bianca sighed. "So you believe me now?"
During dinner, Milo was unusually quiet, digesting the bombshell news.
Because Bianca hadn't driven to dinner, Milo silently drove her back home afterward.
They wished each other a good night. As Bianca walked into her apartment building, she was looking down at her phone and violently bumped into someone. She almost fell, but a large hand steadied her by the waist.
A familiar scent invaded her senses.
"Your waist has gotten thicker."
