Chapter 114 Still Alive

After soaking for a while, the glow on Davy’s body got a little brighter, but he still didn’t show any signs of waking up.
“Looks like this hot spring does help him. But it’s slow. It’ll probably take a while before I see any real
progress.”
Claire wrapped Davy back around her wrist.
Then her thoughts drifted, and she couldn’t help wondering what she should do next.
She couldn’t stay at the hot springs with Davy forever. She had to find Zane and Rufus. She wondered if the younglings had grown up yet.
The moment she thought about the younglings, her mood dropped again.
Her and Rufus’s younglings. Those poor bird eggs…
She’d lost them. She didn’t know how heartbroken Rufus would be. Would he blame her? Would he be angry she couldn’t protect their younglings?
The thought made her hesitate. It suddenly felt like there was nowhere in the world for her to belong.
She had met too few beastfolk in the Beast World!
The next day, Claire packed up, ready to leave. She turned back to look at the misty hot spring, then dipped her hand into the water, and the entire spring was pulled into her storage space.
All that was left behind was a deep pit. But if you looked closely, you could see clear spring water slowly bubbling up from the bottom.
“Huh?” Claire was surprised. She suddenly shifted into a little fox and jumped down into the pit.
She tested the newly emerging spring water with her paw. It was warm. She happily jumped back up.
“Perfect! I took one, but the original’s still here. It’ll just take some time to fill back up to how it was!”
Claire had moved the hot spring into the preservation space, where it would stay warm indefinitely. From now on, Davy would rely on it to recover.
The Ember Fruit trees by the spring were completely bare, but still alive. When she scraped the bark, it was still green underneath.
Claire didn’t leave a single one behind. She put them all into her storage.
“I remember the circle Davy drew was around here. Jeffrey destroyed it back then, but some Ember Fruit were still intact. I wonder if they’re still edible after being buried in the snow for so long.”
The Ember Fruit had a great effect and meant a lot to Claire. She just didn’t know if she could still find

them after they’d been sitting out here, forgotten, for all these days.

Following the location her memory, Claire dug through the snow and finally found the fruits on the ground, wrapped in dirt
The cold had slowed down the rotting. Aside from two that were half spoiled, the other 12 were still in good condition. Claire stored all of them in her preservation space.
This trip had been more than worth it.
Satisfied with her haul, Claire got back on the snowmobile and rode off.
Once she got near the hot spring area, everything started to feel familiar again. She finally found the direction of the eagle clan and sped off on the snowmobile.
After riding for half a day, Claire unexpectedly came across two beastfolk carrying bows and arrows.
During the harsh winter, beastfolk usually stayed hidden in caves. Unless absolutely necessary, they wouldn’t come out. But now, there were two of them out here!
They were both male beastfolk, wearing thick beast–hide clothing. It was simple–just a hole cut in a piece of hide to pull over their heads. Crude and bulky, not very convenient to move in. Usually, only male beastfolk dressed like that; females paid more attention to their clothing.
They had prey hanging on their backs and were sitting by a fire, roasting meat.
Claire stopped the snowmobile from a distance and approached on foot.
When she got about 30 feet away, she stopped and hid behind a large tree.
She had to figure out first whether these two were enemies or friends.
The two beastfolk didn’t have any beast marks on their faces, so they were probably just ordinary Level 0 beastfolk. They sat by the fire, chatting as they warmed themselves.
“Did you hear? That Level 3 rogue beastfolk isn’t dead!”
“You mean Je-”
“Shh! Don’t say his name! It’ll bring bad luck. I heard he was injured by a female. With a piece of tree
bark!”
“A piece of bark? No way!”
