Chapter 157 A House Full of Younglings

Marcus pushed open the door with a tray in his hands. On it sat a huge pile of roasted lamb ribs. The rich smell filled the whole room the second he stepped inside, and the younglings instantly started yipping and rushing toward him.
“Hey, don’t grab it! This is for your mom!”
Marcus laughed as he calmly stepped around the younglings covering the floor and quickly made his way to Claire.
The moment Claire saw him, she finally relaxed.
“You’re finally here! Marcus, taking care of babies is exhausting!”
“Hehe! You worked hard, Claire! Eat first!”
He set the tray on the table, then walked into the middle of the younglings. Clapping his hands, he said, “Alright, little ones, come to Daddy! Let’s play a game!”
As soon as he finished speaking, he shifted into a giant panda. His huge head nearly touched the ceiling.
He quickly dropped onto the floor, putting his massive body between the firepit and the younglings.
The second he lay down, little panda babies and fox babies swarmed all over him.
The younglings happily climbed up and down his mountain-like body. Some even used his back as a slide, squealing with excitement as they slid down again and again.
In an instant, Marcus captured the attention of every youngling. Claire finally got some peace and quiet.
She let out a long breath and looked at the roasted lamb ribs on the tray.
The full rack of lamb was roasted to a golden brown. The crispy skin had been brushed with honey, while the seasoning smelled perfect. Steam still rose from the meat, making it impossible to resist.
Claire took one bite. Under the crispy crust was juicy, tender lamb that practically melted in her mouth. After the first bite, she couldn’t stop eating.
By the time she finally felt full, she had already finished over half the rack.
Luckily, this Beast World had sheep too. Otherwise, someone like her, who loved grilled lamb

skewers, would have suffered badly from cravings.
Claire let out a full little burp and smiled at Marcus awkwardly.
“Marcus, your cooking keeps getting better and better!”

She touched her arms and waist. She could already pinch the soft flesh on her arms and waist. Her once-thin cheeks had filled out too, and her sharp chin was slowly becoming round and adorable.
A troubled look quickly appeared on her face.
“I gained weight again!”
Marcus’s voice came clearly from the giant pile of younglings.
“You just gave birth, Claire. Of course you need more nutrition! Don’t worry. You’re not fat at all. To me, Claire is the best!”
Claire secretly grumbled to herself, Isn’t somebody supposed to be blind?
Even so, the words still made her heart feel sweet.
After eating her fill, she started trying to send the younglings into her storage space one by one. She still didn’t know whether the space had a limit on living creatures, so she could only test it slowly herself.
Marcus had already gone inside the storage space ahead of time and was waiting outside the townhouse. Every time a youngling appeared, he gathered them together so they wouldn’t crawl off toward the farm area and cause trouble.
Only after the very last youngling entered did Claire finally relax.
“Thank goodness. Looks like there’s no limit. As long as the storage space has room, as many as
you want can enter.”
Her consciousness sank into the storage space. She saw a cheerful crowd of younglings following Marcus everywhere as they explored the townhouse together.
It was their first time entering the storage space, yet none of them seemed nervous. Maybe the place carried their mother’s scent. Or maybe having Marcus beside them made them feel brave.
“Marcus, I think we should give the younglings names!”
Claire had been getting headaches for days just thinking about coming up with 51 names.

She hated naming kids the most. Back in the modern world, when she was going through IVF, she had actually loved doing it. Before she was even pregnant, she had already started flipping through baby books and dictionaries. She had nearly worn them out just to pick a few perfect
names.
But now? Fifty-one names were far too much for her to handle.
So she happily dumped the problem onto Marcus, the father of the babies.
“Hehe. Back then, Zane named all my babies. This time, it’s your turn!”
Marcus could easily see through her little trick. Still, he smiled at her with that innocent, doting look in his eyes.
“Alright. If you want me to do it, I will. But I’ll need some time.”
“Of course.”
The moment Claire no longer had to worry about naming the babies, she felt completely refreshed.
The babies played inside the storage space for nearly four hours. By the end, every last one of them was exhausted. They curled up against Marcus and fell asleep one after another.
Meanwhile, Claire had already passed out in the stone cottage.
For once, she had escaped the nonstop noise of the babies. She quickly seized the rare opportunity for peace and quiet to catch up on sleep.
With Marcus watching over the cubs inside the storage space, Claire relaxed completely. She blocked out all the noisy sounds from the babies and drifted off almost instantly.
At that moment, everything felt calm and peaceful.
No one knew that those quiet days were about to end very soon.
Two days later, Bertie’s injuries had mostly healed. Marcus finally brought him to meet Claire.
“Claire, this is Bertie. We rescued him two days ago, but his injuries were pretty bad back then. I didn’t want you worrying, so I didn’t tell you.”
