Chapter 252 Saved
The lion held its head high and stared down the white wolf.
Zane looked at it as though it were an insect beneath his notice. Even thought the lion was roughly his beastfolk and wild animals were fundamentally different and couldn’t be compared.
The lion was fierce, but it still wasn’t enough to intimidate him.
Claire, who was standing off to the side, began to worry again.
“That lion is huge! Are you sure it isn’t a beastfolk?”
Burrow explained, “Beastfolk can sense each other. The moment we see an animal, we instinctively kn whether it’s one of us or just an ordinary wild beast. Still, that lion is enormous. I can’t believe somethi so terrifying lives in this forest. We were lucky we didn’t run into it before now.”
Without Zane and the beautiful female, the lionesses alone would have been enough to kill him and all seven of his brothers, much less the lion.
Claire grew anxious.
“What’s taking Marcus so long?”
What she didn’t know was that Marcus had run into trouble of his own.
Another lion, nearly identical in size to the one they had just encountered, was blocking Marcus’s path.
The pride was actually led by two lion brothers.
Marcus removed the fur pouch full of younglings and told Eva and Matilda to guard it carefully before charging at the hostile lion.
The giant panda was several times larger than the lion. He charged at it with brute force.
looked
The lion had never seen a beastfolk like him before. Marcus looked round and harmless, almost as though he were asking to be eaten.

The lion had hunted animals much larger than itself before, so it had no idea how powerful Marcus was. It held its ground and waited for its prey to come closer.
The balance between beastfolk and wild animals was never fixed.
When beastfolk were stronger, wild animals became their food. When beastfolk were weaker, wild aniduals attacked and ate them instead.
The two lions had ruled this forest for years and had never encountered a true rival.
This time, however, the lion had clearly chosen the wrong opponent.
Marcus crashed into it with overwhelming force and knocked its head violently to the side.
Chapter 252 Saved
Blood trickled from the corner of the lion’s mouth. It finally realized this beastfolk wasn’t easy prey turned to flee.
Marcus watched it disappear into the distance and blinked innocently
“I barely even hit you. Why are you running? Come back! I wanted to make Claire a lion-fur scarf!”
The lion ran even faster and vanished in an instant.
Marcus scoffed.
“Coward.”
He bent down to pick up the fur pouch full of younglings with his teeth, only to find Eva and the other females staring at him in stunned silence.
Eva hadn’t expected Marcus to fight in such a direct, fearless way. He didn’t need to think at all. He sim overwhelmed his opponent with brute strength.
Rabbit beastfolk never fought like that.
After all, most rabbit beastfolk were tall and slender. Even if they wanted to rely on brute force, they simply didn’t have enough of it.
Marcus hoisted the younglings onto his back again and ran in the direction Zane had disappeared, grumbling as he went.
“Why did he run off so fast? Is Zane trying to get Claire alone? That’s sneaky.”
The females exchanged glances and hurried after him,
Meanwhile, Zane had already beaten the other lion black and blue, leaving wounds all over its body.
But the stubborn lion refused to fall or run away because the lionesses were still crouched nearby, watching.
The lion roared furiously and lunged at Zane again, though its steps had already become unsteady.
Zane raised an eyebrow. “You’ve got guts.”
Then he hit it even harder.
The lion rolled dozens of yards away and collapsed on the ground, panting heavily.
Burrow was shaken to his core. Only a beastfolk this powerful deserved to become the beautiful female mate. Someone like him could barely even help.
The realization crushed him, and even the pride he had felt after advancing to Level 2 disappeared.
Just as disappointment began to overwhelm him, he heard a clear, familiar voice call out.
“Burrow!”
Chapter 252 Saved
Only Eva, his beloved little sister, called him that way.
Before Burrow could tur around, Eva raced over and tackled him to the ground, her furry rabbit ear brushing against his chesk and making it itch.
“Eva, what are you doing here? Weren’t you taken away with Mom by Zerak?”
Eva smiled brightly.
“I was. But Claire saved us. We don’t have to be sent to Valorhenge anymore.”
Burrow was so overjoyed that he didn’t know what to say. The Claire Evà mentioned had to be Zane’s mate, the beautiful female standing nearby and watching Zane fight the lion.
She hadn’t just saved him. She had saved his little sister too.
He could never repay such a debt.
Burrow helped Eva to her feet and asked worriedly, “Where’s Mom?”
As soon as he finished speaking, the females began appearing one after another in the distance.
The rabbit beastfolk leading them was Matilda.
“Mom!”
Burrow and his seven brothers surrounded Matilda and Eva, weeping with joy.
Matilda saw that the beast marks on Burrow’s cheek had increased from one to two. Delighted, she touched the new mark and praised him.
