Garen hesitated when he heard Claire’s words.

Zane handed the roasted chicken leg back to Claire and said calmly. “If you really want to thank us, focus on recovering and take us to find the evening primrose. When the time comes, just give us a few extra plants.”

“Of course!” Garen nodded and waved the five male beastfolk away.

Just then, Eva approached with a young female beastfolk in tow, Claire recognized her. She was another Level 2 female from Grimstone and was close to Matilda. Her name was Millie Catt.

Millie fidgeted shyly and kept sneaking glances at Garen. The bashful look on her face made her feelings obvious to both Claire and Zane.

Eva pulled Millie over and deliberately shoved her toward Garen.

She used a little too much force, and Millie was only halfheartedly resisting, so she naturally fell against

him.

Garen had been standing nearby watching his clansmen dance. Caught off guard when Millie stumbled into him, he quickly steadied her and asked with concern, “Are you okay?”

Claire and Zane exchanged a look, then settled in to enjoy the show while eating roasted meat.

Marcus also pricked up his ears to listen.

The younglings were already running wild around the bonfire, but with the lynx clansmen, Matilda, and the others watching them, Marcus didn’t need to worry.

For once, Marcus could relax.

The three spectators stayed perfectly quiet, afraid of interrupting Eva and the others.

When Eva heard Garen’s answer, she happily exchanged a look with Millie that seemed to say, See? I told

Garen hurriedly waved his hands, panic written all over his face.

“No, no, I’m not turning her down! It’s exactly because I’m not even Level 1 that I don’t think I’m worthy of Millie. Besides, our lynx clan is so small. I’m afraid she’d suffer here!”

Millie grew anxious when she heard that and suddenly stepped forward to confess her feelings.
