Aurora stepped outside the treehouse and spread her wings.

“Do you want me to carry Claire up?” she asked Zane.

He scooped Claire into his arms. With one powerful jump, he landed on the nearest branch. Then he

The three of them continued upward through the thick branches. The canopy was packed with twisting limbs. Aurora had to work hard to weave through them, but Zane moved with ease. He was fast, light, and

Soon, sunlight filtered through the highest leaves. Then Claire saw it. A massive bird’s nest.

It was built from countless thin branches and measured nearly 30 feet across. It was packed tightly and built thick enough that no one below could see inside.

When they reached the side of the nest, the whole thing came into view.

The inside was lined with layers of animal hides. On top of them was a thick blanket of soft black feathers They looked incredibly warm and comfortable.

A giant crow rested in the center of the nest. His wings were slightly spread. Under the sunlight, his black feathers shimmered with flashes of rainbow colors.
