Chapter 286 Claire’s Fourth Beast Mate

Claire couldn’t shake the uneasy feeling in her heart. Leaving her eggs with a male she barely knew to hatch them felt strange. It hadn’t bothered her before because she hadn’t known. But now that she did, it just didn’t feel right.

Corvin saw the discomfort on her face.

“Don’t worry,” he said calmly. “I think they’ll hatch soon. Once they do, you can take them home.”

Claire and Aurora’s eyes lit up at the same time.

“How much longer?” they asked eagerly.

“About ten days. A few of the eggs have already started moving.”

Corvin pointed at a bird egg covered in red flame–like markings and motioned for Claire to look.

All four of them stared at it. A second later, the red egg gave two tiny wobbles. The movement was so sligh that anyone who wasn’t watching closely would have missed it.

Claire was delighted.

“It’s true! The little one inside is moving!”

Even though she felt uneasy, Claire knew the eggs would be safest here. She had no choice but to leave them with Corvin.

Corvin’s treehouse was dark and chilly, but to hatch the eggs, he had built a large nest high in the top of the tree, where they could soak up more sunlight and breathe fresh air.

Whenever it rained, he gathered the eggs beneath his wings, shielding them from the wind and rain.

He looked every bit like a devoted father.

With Aurora gently encouraging her, Claire finally agreed to leave. Before she went, she picked up every egg one by one, hugging each of them and softly whispering how much she would miss them.

Zane gave Corvin one long, silent look before lifting Claire into his arms and jumping down from the tree.

Aurora nodded to Corvin before taking off into the sky.

Corvin brushed a tear from one of the eggs with the edge of his wing. The tear was still warm. It felt as though it had burned him

“Claire,” he murmured, “a female blessed with such extraordinary fertility… one day, you’ll be the one asking to bond with me.”

He gently ‘covered the eggs with his wings. His body heat slowly dried the tears from their shells, leaving behind only faint traces.

Claire and Zane said goodbye to Aurora and returned to their treehouse. They found Marcus already back
