Chapter 294 A Quiet Morning Without Davy

Claire briefly told everyone about Garen bringing the evening primrose.

Zane nodded.

“Once Marcus gets his sight back, I’ll feel a lot better about going out on hunting trips.”

As evening fell, Claire finally got every youngling tucked into bed.

But she couldn’t find Davy.

When she asked around, she learned he’d disappeared right after dinner.

She waited until the moon was high in the sky. Sleep slowly crept over her, and in the end, she had no choice but to go to bed first.

“Weren’t we supposed to bond tonight? Where did you run off to…? You were looking forward to it so much…”

Claire nodded.

She knew he was right. Still, she couldn’t shake the empty feeling in her chest.

The eggs looked even bigger than they had yesterday. They were rocking more often now, too.

Corvin looked at her and asked, “You came by yourself today? Where are your mates?”

She only had three official mates.

And her almost–official fourth mate had been missing since last night.

“You still don’t have enough mates. Think about it. If I were a bad male, how would you defend yourself?”

Claire knew he was only making a point, but her heart raced wildly.

This was Corvin.

People always said crows brought disaster. But Claire didn’t believe that. To her, crows only tried to warn people that trouble was coming. They had been misunderstood for far too long.
