The Ultimate Litter: A Beast World System Tale
Chapter 298 Davy’s First Lesson as the Fourth Mate
“Chameleon!”
Could Ruby change the color of her body like a chameleon, making herself impossible to see?
At least she wasn’t truly invisible.
That would have been way too unbelievable.
Finished
Claire ran after her and saw Ruby already several hundred feet outside the village, walking toward a group of snakes with their heads held high.
“Alpha! Watch out! There are snakes!”
Claire couldn’t help shouting.
Hearing her, Ruby looked back and flashed her a charming smile.
She waved casually, then walked straight into the snakes. To Claire’s surprise, the snakes didn’t attack her. Instead, they gathered around Ruby and slithered away with her.
Claire stared in amazement.
“The world really is full of surprises. This place has every kind of creature you can imagine.”
Davy looked confused. “What do you mean by every kind?”
Claire laughed it off.
“Never mind. Come on. I’ll make you something good to eat.”
She had been hearing Davy’s stomach growling for a while now.
Marcus wasn’t surprised at all to see Davy return.
“I told you he wouldn’t leave. Hmph! Fourth beast mate, I don’t care if you’re a titan python or a drake. You came after the three of us, so you have to listen to us. Got it?”
Davy tore into a piece of juicy roasted meat, stuffing his mouth full before nodding.
“Mmm–hmm. I know the rules. First mate, make the call.”
Marcus hadn’t expected him to be so sensible. He nodded with satisfaction.
“Good. And if you miss the bonding ceremony again tonight, then forget about becoming Claire’s beast mate. Understood?”
Davy swallowed his food and nodded seriously.
“I understand. It won’t happen again.”
Marcus really couldn’t figure him out. What could possibly be more important than bonding?

Did a shed snakeskin really mean that much to snake–beastfolk?
Claire tugged gently on Marcus’s hand.
“Marcus, don’t tease Davy. He takes everything seriously.”
“I wasn’t teasing him. I was teaching him how to take good care of you.”
With the white gauze covering his eyes, Marcus looked calm and graceful.
Finishest
The thick cloth bandage had been replaced with a light white gauze Claire had made for him. It let his skin breathe much better.
Davy nodded earnestly and looked at Marcus.
“Okay. Teach me more. I don’t have any experience. Should I take off the female’s fur tunic first… or mine?”
Seeing the two of them about to discuss something so embarrassing in broad daylight, Claire quickly cut them off.
“That’s enough. Marcus, take the younglings for a walk. Davy, come with me. We’re going to visit Kieran.”
Both Marcus and Davy nodded obediently. Neither of them objected to Claire’s plan.
Kieran’s treehouse stood right next to Aurora’s. It was the biggest and most luxurious treehouse in the clan.
“It’s got two stories… and that huge deck outside! It well deserves to be the clan chief’s home.”
Claire couldn’t hide her surprise as she admired the enormous treehouse.
Just as she was about to go inside, several male beastfolk walked out. She almost bumped right into them.
The man in front happened to be someone she knew.
Claire called out, “Quentin!”
Quentin looked up. The moment he saw her, his face lit up with a smile.
“Claire! Are you here to see Kieran?”
Claire nodded.
The two male beastfolk standing beside Quentin were both tall and powerfully built. One of them looked a lot like Quentin.
When Claire glanced at them, Quentin quickly introduced them.
“Claire, this is my younger brother, Landon Chavez. We have the same parents. And this is Altair Hawke. He’s an eagle beastfolk.”
Both men looked at Claire with open curiosity.
Landon was a full head taller than Quentin. He was broader too, with thick muscles and sun–tanned skin.
