Aurora immediately stopped questioning it.
They smiled and nodded, then asked if Claire needed help preparing for the bonding ceremony.
In some clans, couples held a special ceremony when they became mates, much like a wedding.
The eagle clan followed that tradition.
But Claire didn’t want to make a big event out of it, so she politely turned down their offer.
Finished
The main reason they had come was to let Kieran know that Davy was now her mate. That way, he wouldn’t have trouble coming and going from the clan in the future.
Even though Rufus was their son, they wouldn’t interfere with who Claire chose as her mate.
That night, when the moon had risen above the trees, Davy mysteriously led Claire to the top of the gian tree where their tree house stood.
“Come up here. There’s something I want to show you,” Davy said, pointing his tail toward the top.
Claire looked up in confusion. Only a thin layer of leaves covered the top now. Even without climbing higher, she could already see the sky full of stars.
“Davy, are you sure you don’t want to go back to the tree house to bond first? You brought me up here just to enjoy the view?”
Wasn’t the wedding night supposed to be precious?
Why did Davy seem to be in no hurry at all?
Davy lifted his head and said seriously, “Don’t you like romantic things? Rufus could do something special for you, so why can’t I? Come on. Just for a little while.”
Claire thought, Well, we’re already here. It won’t take long to have a look. She pushed aside the leaves and climbed up.
Countless glowing green lights suddenly rose into the sky.
The glowing lights and the distant stars lit up the night together, creating a breathtaking view.
Claire reached out and touched one of the green lights. Looking closer, she realized it was a firefly.
“Davy, where did you find so many fireflies?”
Davy looked surprised.
“So these bugs are called fireflies? I didn’t find them. They were already hiding in the leaves at the top of the tree. I was actually thinking about chasing them all away.”
