Chapter 306 Corvin’s Suspicion
Especially after what Fiona had done, they felt particularly grateful toward Claire.

Lucia stepped forward and held out the basket she was carrying to Claire. In a gentle voice, she said, “Thank you for exposing Fiona’s scheme! My beast mate, Rowan, acted like he was possessed before and even attacked you. I’m sorry! Please accept these fruits as a small token of my gratitude!”
Of course, Claire didn’t mind. She looked down and saw that the basket was skillfully woven from bamboo strips. It was filled with several kinds of fruit, all of which looked delicious!
She wasn’t sure if it was because she was pregnant with two litters of younglings, but Claire suddenly felt her mouth watering.
She picked up one piece of fruit, then gently pushed the basket with the rest of the fruit back to Lucia.
“I’ll just take this one! Don’t worry about what happened. Your beast mate didn’t do it on purpose.”
Lucia smiled shyly, and the corners of her eyes reddened slightly. Thinking back to Rowan’s strange behavior during those days, she couldn’t help feeling a little heartbroken.
Fortunately, it was all over now, and Rowan had returned to normal!
Eva still wanted Claire to stay and spend more time with them, but Claire was eager to check on the egg younglings, so she said goodbye.
“Eva, we’re living
in the same tribe now anyway. We’ll have plenty of chances to hang out later.”
Her egg younglings only had a few days left before they hatched. She absolutely couldn’t miss such an important moment again!
Claire took Davy on a long walk around the tribe, and before long, many of the beastfolk knew that the green-eyed Level 3 beastfolk was Claire’s beast mate.
Burrow hid behind a tree in the distance. Watching the graceful figure sitting on the tall beastfolk’s shoulder, he couldn’t help feeling inferior.
That beastfolk was so tall and so muscular!
His hair was smooth, silky, and glossy. It was obvious at a glance that he had always been well-fed and had never gone hungry.
Davy seemed to notice Burrow hiding behind the tree and turned to glance in his direction.
When Claire noticed Davy had stopped walking, she asked curiously, “What’s wrong, Davy?”
Davy turned back and said, “Nothing.”
He was just a weak Level 2 beastfolk, not someone worth worrying about!
Burrow leaned against the tree, his chest rising and falling violently. It was impossible to tell whether he was frightened or angry. Only after Davy’s footsteps had faded into the distance did he mutter, “Another Level
3…

Finished
When he had first advanced to Level 2, he had thought that being the same level as Rufus meant he still had hope of becoming Claire’s beast mate.
But now, the appearance of yet another Level 3 beast mate had completely shattered the confidence he once had.
He didn’t know whether he should keep trying or finally give up…
At the nest on top of the healer’s treehouse, Davy and Claire stood side by side.
Davy was so heavy that the branches beneath his feet creaked loudly.
Fortunately, the branches there were densely packed, so breaking one or two of them didn’t cause any problems.
Davy looked down awkwardly, moving with great care as though he was afraid of stomping a huge hole through the branches.
Corvin continued incubating the eggs. He glanced at Davy before shifting his gaze to Claire.
“You two bonded?”
He had already caught Claire’s scent on this Level 3 beastfolk!
Claire was focused on examining the egg younglings and didn’t even look up as she answered casually, “Yeah. His name’s Davy. He’s my fourth beast mate!”
Corvin slowly looked Davy up and down. Pretending to sound indifferent, he asked as if it were an afterthought, “What kind of beastfolk is he? Snake clan? You probably don’t know that the eagle clan and the snake clan are bitter enemies.”
Claire’s hand paused as she stroked one of the egg younglings. She really hadn’t considered that.
But Davy no longer belonged to the snake clan. He was a drake now!
Still, she was afraid revealing Davy’s true identity would bring unnecessary trouble. Corvin was cold and impossible to read, making him extremely difficult to figure out.
She didn’t dare tell him the truth.
So she laughed awkwardly and said, “I know! Davy isn’t from the snake clan. He just looks a little similar to
them.”
Corvin hummed softly before saying slowly, “I suppose that’s true. Those are horns on his forehead, aren’t they?”
He had actually guessed correctly!
Cold sweat broke out across Claire’s back!
Just what kind of unbelievable creature was Corvin? He had spotted what made Davy different with only a single glance!
