Chapter 348 She Wanted the Blood

“I’m too far back to see anything. I’m worried they aren’t getting the organs clean enough?

“Then climb up on my shoulders.”

Without another word, Davy lifted Claire gently and settled her onto his shoulders.

He stood rock steady, not swaying an inch. With one hand braced on top of his head, Claire felt perfecty safe and could see the whole area clearly.

Eva and Tyne were itching to jump in and start scrubbing the organs themselves.

The stench had faded a great deal by now, and the whole thing looked like fun.

Gale caught Tyne’s hand and shook his head.

“Don’t, Tyne. If you really want to be part of it, I’ll do the washing, and you can stand there and tell me what to do. Sound good? I don’t want you getting your hands filthy. Kaleb made me promise to take good care of you before he headed out.”

Kaleb was Tyne’s only beast mate now.

At that, Tyne obediently pulled her hands back and started directing Gale instead, telling him to rinse this spot and scrub that one.

Eva, on the other hand, had come on her own, so she crouched right down beside one of the wooden tubs and scrubbed away with real enthusiasm.

“Wow, these are slippery! Claire, is this stuff really going to taste good? I’ve never heard of anyone eating organ meat before.”

Claire laughed. “Of course you can eat it, and it’s delicious. It’s just a hassle to clean, that’s all. Pay attention to these steps, and once you’ve learned them, you can make it yourselves.”

The other male beastfolk were skeptical, every last one of them.

Sure, the smell had died down, but those things had been coated in filth not long ago. Who’d be brave enough to eat that?

Still, Claire’s reputation in the clan was sky-high by now, and Kieran had told them over and over to do

exactly as she said, so they swallowed their doubts and followed her instructions to the letter.

“Claire, those big stone pots you asked for are finished. We made ten of them. Come take a look and tell us if they’re thin enough!”

Landon called out from behind Davy.

Claire’s eyes lit up, and at a light nudge from her toe, Davy started walking toward the spot where the pots were laid out.

Each pot had been hollowed out of a single block of granite and measured six feet across, with insides that were unbelievably smooth. How the male beastfolk had pulled it off was anybody’s guess.

Claire nodded, delighted.

“The thickness is exactly right! Thank you, Landon. These pots are going to come in handy.

The clan did have stone pots of its own, but they were small, only suited for cooking at home.

Tonight’s bonfire party was going to draw an enormous crowd.

Feeding an entire clan of beastfolk called for big pots.

Along with the pots, Landon had prepared stone spatulas lashed to long wooden handles, and the extra reach made them a breeze to use.

Landon scratched his head, a little sheepish.

“Don’t mention it. The second I heard you were cooking savage beast organs, I came running. You’re such a good cook that anything you make turns out amazing!”

really was missing out.

ire thought it over and decided to set the pots up right where they were, so the organs could go straight the moment they were clean.

Go ahead and set all these pots up, fill them with water, and get the fires going.”

Landon nodded and led the rest of the beastfolk off to get everything ready.

Eva came running over, her hands pale and wrinkled from the water, though she didn’t mind one bit. Beaming, she announced, “Claire, the organs are all clean!”

Claire looked them over, then had everyone carry the wooden tubs over and dump the organs into the stone pots.
