Chapter 353 A Miracle Pill for Lucia

“A gift?”

Lucia said, puzzled. “No, no, no. We should be the ones giving you gifts to thank you for everything you’ve done for the clan. How could I turn around and accept one from you? I couldn’t.”

As she spoke, she pushed Claire’s fist away.

Claire kept right on smiling and opened her fist.

A single pill sat in the center of her palm.

Lucia asked, “What is that?”

“It’s a pill made from medicinal herbs. It’s called a fertility pill.”

What Claire had brought her was the basic version, which was more than enough for what Lucia needed.

If she handed out accelerated fertility pills and cut a pregnancy that short, the females would be scared out of their minds.

Lucia’s eyes lit up, since the name alone told her exactly what the pill was for.

She asked urgently, “Claire, are you serious? Is this fertility pill what I think it is? A miracle pill that gets a female pregnant every single time?”

Claire nodded and pressed the fertility pill into Lucia’s palm.

“It’s not a guarantee you’ll get pregnant, but it does help.”

She wasn’t about to overpromise. If Lucia really didn’t get pregnant, wouldn’t she wind up resenting Claire for it?

Better not to get her hopes up now, so that when the pregnancy did come, the joy would hit that much harder.

Lucia cradled the tiny pill in both hands, her chest tight with emotion.

“Something this precious, and you’re really giving it to me? Claire, you’re too good to me!”

She threw her arms around Claire in her excitement, then remembered that high, rounded belly and eased her grip.

Claire led an overjoyed Lucia away from the door and a good distance from the noisy crowd before turning serious.

“This pill only works if you take it right after you and your beast mate are, um, together. Don’t forget.”

Lucia nodded over and over, itching to fly straight back to Rowan that very second.

She looked at the wedding chamber with real reluctance, then back at Claire, the conflict written all over her face.

Claire nodded at her.

“Go on. I’ll let Eva know you headed home.”

She’d been about to offer to have Davy escort Lucia partway, but Lucia was gone in the blink of an eye.

Claire looked up at the bright moon overhead and sighed.

“I hope she gets everything she’s wishing for.”-

If she’d come across a miracle pill like that in her past life, she’d have spent every last penny she had ont without a second thought.

Then again, maybe that would’ve left her just another housewife wrapped up in her husband and kids, and she’d never have been in that car accident or crossed over to the Beast World at all.

Davy stood at the base of the tree looking up at her. He only had eyes for Claire, and he’d blocked out every other beastfolk on purpose.

Claire waved him over, and Davy hurried eagerly back up to her side.

“Are we heading back?”

Davy asked.

Claire shook her head and nudged him toward the wedding chamber door, teasing him as she went.

“Come get a good look at how you’re supposed to crash a wedding chamber. Don’t you think our bonding night was pretty quiet compared to this?”

Davy’s face went red, and he let out a low laugh.

“I didn’t mind at all. I was happy either way.”

Warmth spread through Claire’s chest.

It was true. Hadn’t she been just as happy that night herself?

Loud or quiet, it made no difference. As long as the timing was right, the place was right, and the person was right, she had nothing to regret.

There were too many beastfolk packed in for Claire to see what was going on deeper inside.

She tugged at Davy’s arm and pointed at his shoulder.

“Davy, I can’t see.”

Davy caught on right away and lifted her up, settling her gently on his shoulder. His ear landed right against her big belly, and to his surprise, he could hear a gurgling sound coming from inside.

Then a bump suddenly rose on Claire’s belly and landed square against Davy’s face.

Davy’s eyes went wide, and for a moment he and that bump seemed locked in a staring contest. Then he asked, “Sweetheart, are you sure there are eggs in there? Why is it trying to kick me?”

Claire snorted a laugh.

“It’s not just eggs. There should be fox beastlings in there too. I just don’t know whether those eggs are make eggs or snake eggs, or what’ll come out when they hatch.”
