The Ultimate Reborn Heiress

Chapter 10 The Talk

It’s finished. It’s all finished.”

Zayden whispered.

Maybe it wouldn’t completely end his career, but a mark like this would cling to him forever.

From now on, netizens would haul it up whenever they wanted a joke.

That was how merciless the entertainment world was.

“Linda, what are we supposed to do?”

Zayden was genuinely afraid.

He was 28 years old, had spent a decade grinding in the industry, and had nowhere.

Until two years ago, when fate threw him a lifeline from a master’s guidance. His fortune flipped overnight. He landed a lead role in a small–budget film, it made the festival circuit, and against all odds he took home Best Actor.

That was when the public finally noticed him.

People wondered why someone who’d been around so long only surfaced now.

They said he suddenly looked much better; same features, but somehow more striking.

Linda immediately said, “Stay calm. We stick to one narrative, okay? I pushed her. You didn’t see anything.

“The company will deploy PR fast, suppress the heat, and let it cool down. Or we leak scandals about rival artists and divert attention.

“This won’t kill you. Once things settle, you focus entirely on Elliot’s film. You know what his projects mean. This is the first largescale, high–fantasy production our country’s ever made.”

They had prepared for an entire year.

Now that the cast was assembled, training alone would take time.

Filming wouldn’t wrap for at least one or two years.

Long wait, yes, but once it was released, it would shake the industry.

Zayden was a newly crowned Best Actor. Luck like that came with risk.

He’d only played bit roles before, barely more than extras.

He had no iconic characters yet. That made Elliot’s project crucial.

Zayden understood that clearly.

“Alright. I’ll do whatever you say.”

Linda nodded. “From now on, stay offline. Leave PR to the company. Train. Act. Nothing else.”

Zayden finally breathed out.

Right. He hadn’t broken the law. As long as he maintained that he never saw Linda shove Scarlett, he’d survive.

The master had said this item would keep his fortune rising for ten years.

So he believed he’d be fine.

But Scarlett had no intention of giving him that breathing room.

Joyner Entertainment Group.

At eight o’clock, Cedric saw Scarlett’s post and exclaimed, “She actually has evidence!”

He had assumed she was just venting. Turns out, she came prepared for war.

Maggie finished reading, her eyes wide. “Scarlett is insane in the best way! She completely turned the tables!”

But then, reality hit her. Her expression dimmed.

Scarlett’s face was still ruined. What could she possibly do next?

Zayden was vicious. He hadn’t just destroyed a girl’s reputation. He had wrecked her face. It was cruel.

Cedric thought the same. With her appearance damaged, surviving in entertainment would be brutal.

Even if she won this battle, how could she ever film again?

He had no expectations for the variety show she was supposed to join.

He sighed as his phone vibrated in his pocket.

It was Scarlett calling.

He answered, and her words made his eyes fly open.

After hanging up, he stayed stunned for a long moment before clenching his teeth and mobilizing the PR team.

What were they pushing?

Zayden’s scandal, obviously.

He instructed PR to hire commenters, keep the topic boiling, and not let the discussion die.

On top of that, he contacted Elliot.

Asked to invite him out for dinner.

Elliot knew Robb Joyner.

Out of respect for Cedric, he agreed to meet the next day.

The following morning, Scarlett woke up to train, ate breakfast, studied for two hours, then showered and changed into a T–shirt and jeans.

She took a bus to the Damier Hotel.

A server escorted her into a private room.

Inside were Cedric, Maggie, and a neatly dressed young man.

He was around six feet tall, well–proportioned, slightly lean, with soft wavy hair. He was handsome in a harmless, boyish way.

She removed her mask after entering.

Elliot hadn’t arrived yet.

Cedric looked at Scarlett. “You’re saying you can persuade Elliot to swap out both the male lead and the third female role for Jordan and you, even though filming has already begun?”

The puppy–faced young man was Jordan Lane, and he was only 21 years old.

Joyner Entertainment Group had just signed him.

They originally planned to send him to a singing–and–dancing competition.

But yesterday Scarlett had called, insisting they invite Elliot to dinner.

She claimed she could convince him to replace the current male lead and female third with Jordan and herself.

Cedric didn’t fully believe it.

But this concerned an artist’s future. He had no choice but to try.

He’d been losing sleep over his artists‘ careers.

Scarlett nodded. “Yes. That’s correct.”

She wasn’t bluffing.

In her previous life, what Zayden did to her never came to light.

But a year later, right after the movie finished shooting, news broke that Zayden had assaulted his girlfriend.

Elliot nearly lost his mind.

A film with a morally rotten lead couldn’t be released.

He had to recast and reshoot the male lead.

It drained massive resources and money.

Back then, the replacement Elliot chose was Jordan.

Jordan came from the singing–and–dancing circuit. Good looks, average skills. Elliot spotted him and pulled him into acting.

A year later, when the film finally premiered.

The moment it hit theaters, Jordan’s performance shocked everyone.

He was born to act, not sing or dance. Zero talent there.

Cedric was about to ask more when the door opened and Elliot, forty years old, walked in.

He was short, slightly plump, with a friendly appearance.

But his personality was straightforward–what he said stood.

“Elliot, please have a seat.”

After he sat down, Cedric took charge and ordered the hotel’s signature dishes.

Elliot got straight to the point. “Cedric, just tell me what you want.”

He already had a rough idea why Cedric contacted him.

But he hadn’t planned to replace Zayden.

He felt Zayden’s appearance suited the role.

And Zayden kept insisting he never saw who pushed Scarlett.

Plus, he hadn’t personally touched her. It was still defensible and wouldn’t necessarily ruin the film.

Before Cedric could respond,

Scarlett spoke up. “Elliot, I asked Mr. Joyner to invite you because I hope you’ll replace both the male lead and the third female role. The audition wasn’t complete. Maybe you can watch me audition today.”

Elliot’s tone cooled. “Why would I replace them? The audition is over, and there are no reruns. And your face is injured now. You no longer suit the role.”

His voice softened when mentioning her injuries.

As if recalling someone else.
