Callie blushed a little. “I’ve never played before. I’m afraid I’ll drag you guys down.”

Eva laughed. “It’s just for fun. Who cares? We’ll carry you. Don’t worry, I’m insanely good.”

Scarlett had this game on her phone too.

She rarely played games. She had originally downloaded this one for Raymond.

Raymond loved playing games and often brought her and Hazel along to play.

Scarlett logged in.

She had quite a few heroes on her account, though not many skins. She didn’t really buy skins.

Although she hadn’t played much before, she understood the game mechanics pretty well.

The five of them created a room.

Eva picked Jungler. Alex picked Marksman and told Callie to pick a Support to follow him.

When Scarlett used to play this game, she mostly played Mage and Support.

This time she picked an assassin–type Mage. Compared to traditional Mages with three skills, this assassin Mage had five skills that required combo chains. The mechanics were complex and difficult, and a lot of people simply couldn’t handle it.

It was also the hardest Mage in Dread Legends.

But if you could pull it off, the damage was insane. You could absolutely style on people.

Seeing her pick this Mage, the other three couldn’t help themselves.

“Scarlett, do you know how to play this hero?”

She had never played it before.

She looked over the hero’s skill descriptions again, memorized them, and that was pretty much it.

The game started, and the five of them entered the battlefield.

Scarlett went to the mid lane.

She also took a moment to memorize all the items in the game and looked over the enemy heroes‘ skills to familiarize herself with them.

Clearly a girl’s username.

Even though it was just a casual match, girls rarely picked this Mage in normal games.

The enemy mid–laner’s ID was “Blade Destroyer.”

Lorelea was the name of the hero Scarlett had picked.

Seeing the enemy trash–talk her, Scarlett wasn’t about to let it slide. She fired right back.

“Not only am I practicing Lorelea, but I’m also gonna have you stuck under your tower all game!”

“Talking tough, huh?” Blade Destroyer replied. “Call me a king right now and I’ll go easy on you. I’ll even carry you next game.”

Scarlett replied, “Call me Queen, and I’ll only kill you one fewer time.”

“Tch, well then watch yourself, girl.”

Scarlett ignored him and started clearing minions.

When clearing minions, if a player got the last hit, they earned more gold, which helped with scaling.

In this game, farming was extremely important.

Scarlett’s last–hitting was on point. She didn’t miss a single one.

By the time she finished clearing the first mid–lane wave, she already had several dozen more gold than her opponent.

Then both of them went for the small monster in the river nearby.

On the last hit, Scarlett sniped it with a basic attack.

That put her 120 gold ahead of her opponent.

After clearing the second wave, she was already over 200 gold ahead and had an extra small component item.

After clearing the third wave, Scarlett didn’t roam. Instead, she pinged a warning to her team’s Marksman.

She had looked at what items the enemy Jungler had built, their skill cooldowns, and how long it took them to clear camps. She could basically calculate all the data.

She figured out the enemy Jungler’s timing. They had just finished clearing the bottom half of their jungle and were probably heading to gank the Marksman right about now.
