Chapter 176 Saved a Girl
Scarlett shot another stone out like a slingshot, hitting the wrist of the hand holding the girl.
The man yelped in pain and let go.
The girl fell to the ground but quickly got back up and ran toward Scarlett.
She was smart. She knew the pretty lady in front of her had just saved her.
So she hid behind Scarlett.
The man glared at Scarlett, dark and angry.
“Are you asking for trouble?”
Scarlett said calmly, “You can come try me and see who’s really asking for trouble.”
The girl’s face showed she was kind–hearted.
Besides, the man had said she was supposed to watch over her little brother.
How old could she be? And he expected her to babysit, then blame her for everything.
What kind of parent is that?

The man clearly knew who threw the stone at him. Scarlett had been standing so far away, but still managed to hit his wrist.
Both of his wrists hurt a lot.
She must have some real skill.
The man didn’t dare mess with Scarlett, so he pointed at the girl. “Ena, you’d better come with me. You can’t just hide behind this stranger forever–unless you plan to never go home.
“Come back with me now. I won’t blame you for your brother’s fall.”
The girl, Ena Miller, shook her head.
She didn’t trust what her father was saying.
She knew going home wouldn’t stop him from hitting her.
The man’s face turned red with anger. “Ena, you think you’re tough now, huh? Fine, don’t come home ever. But if you ever come. home, I’ll make sure you regret it.”
Ena couldn’t help but grab Scarlett’s coat silently
Scarlett looked down and patted her head. “Don’t worry”
Ena nodded.
The man cursed under his breath and stomped off.

Chapter 176 Saved a Girl
Once he was gone, Selina quickly asked, “Scarlett, what’s wrong with that guy? Why would he hit a little girl?”
They couldn’t understand a word of what Scarlett and the man had said to each other.
Scarlett explained the whole situation to everyone.

Selina gently patted Ena’s head, full of sympathy.
This place was so poor, and they had so many kids, favoring boys over girls.
Girls ended up doing all the housework and taking care of their younger siblings.
This girl had it really rough.
But then, to everyone’s surprise, Ena spoke up in Dragorian to thank them, “Thank you, Miss.”
Her pronunciation was a little halting, not very smooth, but she could speak it.
Selina’s eyes lit up. “Hey, you can speak Dragorian?”
Ena smiled. “A little. There’s a teacher in our town. I sneak into the class to listen.”
Scarlett knew there was a small school at the far end of the town.
It was just a few rooms surrounded by a fence, but it still counted as a school.
Ena then asked, “Miss, what… what do you do?”
She looked curiously at the staff and cameras behind Scarlett.
Her eyes wandered to the cameras, wide with curiosity and awe.
[Wow, this girl has really nice features, but she’s way too skinny and tanned from the sun.]
[Does this town really favor boys over girls? Didn’t Scarlett just say her father wanted to hit her because she didn’t watch her brother properly?]
[Definitely favors boys. The poorer the place, the worse this kind of thing is.]
Selina explained to Ena, “We’re here to film a show in your town”
She told Ena exactly what filming a show meant.
Ena looked at the cameras with a little envy
“Miss, do you need a place to cook?” she asked.
Since they had helped her, she wanted to help them back.
Selina smiled. “Yes, we need to find a place to cook. We were planning to go to the abandoned house at the far end.”
Ena immediately said, “You can use the school! The teacher is on summer break and went home. No one’s there. You can cook at the school.”
