:
So something must have gone wrong, or Rory was set up.
She remembered exactly when it happened: this very afternoon.

The boys outside called again. Rory looked back at Scarlett and Hendrix, then lowered his head and said, “My classmates are here. I’m going out for a bit.”
Rory went out.
After he left, Scarlett said to Hendrix, “I’m going to walk around too.”
“Okay. Don’t stay out too long.”
Scarlett followed after Rory.
She saw him walking ahead and stayed a short distance behind. She took out her phone and turned on video recording.
She didn’t believe for a second that Rory would ever push a child into the water to drown.
In places like this, there were no security cameras anywhere.
Recording on her phone would be the only proof.
Plus, with her there, she could save the child no matter how they ended up in the water.
She just wasn’t sure if these two classmates were the ones behind the trouble.
She walked very slowly and quietly.
Rory and the two boys had no idea anyone was behind them.
Rory really didn’t know his sister was following him.
He looked miserable being around these two classmates. They walked on either side of him, trying to throw their arms around his shoulders.
Rory shoved their arms away and said coldly, “Luke, Fred, what do you want? Just say it. We’re not friends.”
Their faces instantly changed when he pushed them. Luke lost his temper and punched Rory right in the face.

Chapter 35 The Accident
“Rory, who do you think you are? So what if you get good grades? We’re doing you a favor by even hanging out with you. You’re just a short little loser with a trashy celeb sister.
“Haven’t you seen the news? Your sister is trending every day because some rich guy is backing her. What, your sister’s got a sugar daddy but didn’t give your family any money? She’s ungrateful–leaving you and your dad to rot while she
dad to rot while she gets rich.”
Rory heard that and instantly turned around, throwing a punch into Luke Boone’s face.
He knew what people online said about his sister.
He knew about all the rumors and hate.
But he didn’t believe it. Scarlett wasn’t that kind of person.
Because of her reputation, people at school constantly picked on him.
Luke and Fred were his classmates. They had known each other since they were kids.
There was no real feud–Luke and Fred just liked to talk trash, and he never really got along
with them.
If Rory could ignore it, he would.
He definitely didn’t consider them friends.
He came out with them today because he was afraid they’d say nasty things about his sister right outside his house–and that his dad might hear.
Hendrix didn’t know how badly Scarlett was being attacked online.
Rory was scared it would hurt him.
And Scarlett was home today. He didn’t want them saying something disgusting to her face.
That was why he came out with them.
It didn’t mean he actually wanted to hang out.
And he could pretty much guess why they were targeting him.
Luke had a crush on a girl in their class named Nina Dawson.
Recently, Nina kept asking Rory about homework.
Luke probably thought Nina liked Rory, so he kept picking on him.

Rory figured they were probably there because of Nina.
They probably wanted him to take them to see her.
Now that the two of them were trash–talking Scarlett, Rory couldn’t take it anymore. He started fighting back.
While they were fighting, a tough–looking five or six–year–old boy ran out from around the
corner.
Seeing Rory getting beaten up, the little kid picked up a wooden stick and started poking Luke and Fred. He shouted, “Bad guys! Two against one is cheating! Take this!”
Now all three were tangled up.
Luke was already in a bad mood.
He and Fred were both tall, so they thought they had the advantage. But Rory, even though he wasn’t tall, was as quick as a monkey. The two of them couldn’t really get the upper hand.
