Chapter 361 A Secret with No Answer
Ivy had never earned a single point.
Three years later, she never would have imagined that both she and Nathan would come to trust someone so completely. Only then did they finally decide to tell Scarlett everything.
They knew exactly what kind of people Scarlett was, so after hearing Ivy out, Scarlett was genuinely surprised.
It was rare for anyone to have no desire at all for something like the Treasure Hunter. Most people couldn’t control themselves once greed took hold. Desire only grew the more it was fed, just like Leona.
Of course, maybe that also came down to character. Leona had been selfish from the very beginning. Whatever treasures she had acquired were probably gained through lies, schemes, and theft.
Ivy and Nathan both looked at Scarlett expectantly.
Scarlett met their eyes. “Don’t worry. I’ll keep this secret for you.”

Her expression stayed calm, but the knot in her mind had finally come loose. She still didn’t know what the Treasure Hunter really was, but one thing was obvious. It was not something that belonged to this planet or this time.
And once Scarlett gave her word, Ivy and Nathan knew she would never breathe a single word of it to anyone else.
Still, there were things that didn’t add up.
Scarlett frowned slightly. “Did your father know Ivy had the Treasure Hunter? And those sigils he gave the kidnappers, where did they come from?”
She was almost certain the sigils had been exchanged through the Treasure Hunter. Once used on someone, their blood would carry a marked scent.
But Ivy had never exchanged anything from it.
Weston definitely didn’t have a Treasure Hunter of his own. If he had, he would never have kidnapped Ivy in the first place. Which meant those sigils must have come from the Treasure Hunter somehow.
That was why, after Killian used one, his blood had carried that marked scent.
But if Ivy had never exchanged anything, then why had Weston been holding two sigils that could only have come from the Treasure Hunter? One Killian had used on Nathan’s female neighbor, and one on himself.
If Weston hadn’t gotten them from Ivy, then where had he gotten something that could only be obtained through the Treasure Hunter?
Nathan and Ivy both shook their heads. “No. We never told him.”
Neither of them had liked their father, Weston, since they were children. They had guarded this secret too

carefully to ever tell him.

In their daily lives, the two of them would never discuss this so–called Treasure Hunter in private either.
In fact, after Ivy first told Nathan about it at age four, the two of them had never brought it up again, not even in private during the next two years. It was as if the Treasure Hunter didn’t exist at all.
And since Nathan had realized it didn’t seem to affect Ivy in any way, he had gradually stopped paying
attention to it.
When Ivy was first kidnapped, Weston hadn’t even crossed his mind. It was only later, after Scarlett came and they learned about the sigil, that Nathan began to wonder whether Ivy’s disappearance had anything to do with her secret.
Even then, he had never suspected Weston.
Scarlett’s brows drew together.
So how had Weston learned Ivy’s secret?
She didn’t believe for a second that he had arranged the kidnapping to get rid of the two children and conveniently inherit the Johnsons‘ shares.
Killing Ivy and Nathan would have been far too risky. The police were not incompetent, and neither was the board. Sooner or later, suspicion would have landed on him.
So the kidnapping hadn’t been about the shares.
Otherwise, he wouldn’t have ordered the kidnappers to keep Ivy alive while they waited for his instructions. He clearly hadn’t intended to hurt her.
But the kidnappers had said the sigil came from Weston. That meant he must have known about the Treasure Hunter too.
Had he come into contact with someone else who had one?
Scarlett refused to believe Weston had exchanged the sigils himself. If he had possessed a Treasure Hunter, he would never have needed to kidnap Ivy. The only explanation left was that he wanted the one attached to Ivy.
That was the only conclusion that made sense now.
So who had Weston met? Who else had the Treasure Hunter? Had he gotten the sigils from that person?
Nathan had clearly arrived at the same thought.
Even if Weston had already been arrested, that still left one question, Who had given him the sigils?
If Weston knew Ivy’s secret, then that person almost certainly knew it too.
Would they come after Ivy again?
Why had they taken her in the first place?

Was it because of the Treasure Hunter? Did they want the one attached to Ivy?
Could something like that even be transferred from one person to another?
Scarlett looked up just as Nathan met her eyes. Then Nathan turned to his sister and said softly, “Ivy, ask it. Ask the Treasure Hunter whether it can move to another human.”
At once, Ivy called out, “Treasure Hunter, Treasure Hunter, are you there?”
It seemed to answer her, because Ivy nodded instinctively and asked, “Treasure Hunter, can you transfer yourself to someone else?”
She waited. But no answer came.
At last, she looked up at Nathan and Scarlett with wide, anxious eyes. “Treasure Hunter won’t answer that question.”
