Rory gritted his teeth and finally pointed at a spot on the bank. “Right there. My sister came over too. She jumped in to save him.”

The crowd gasped.

“Your sister is back?”

“Is she crazy? Does she want to die?”

“It’s over. We can’t even see them anymore. How are we supposed to save them? They’ve definitely been swept away.”

A man who knew how to swim shouted, “Enough talking. I’ll go down and try.”

He went down along the riverbank, but the current was so strong he couldn’t even swim forward.

He grabbed onto some weeds, climbed back up, wiped the river water off his face, and said, “No way. The water’s too fast. Do you have any rope? Tie a rope on me, and I’ll try again.”

More and more people heard the noise and gathered around.

Someone brought over a bundle of rope. The man tied it around his waist and went into the water again.

This time, he made it a little over ten yards before getting dragged under by the current.

Everyone grabbed the rope together and pulled him back to shore.

Once he got up, he coughed up a lot of water, looked at the river, and sighed. “Don’t bother going back in. The water in the middle is even worse. You can’t go in. Anyone who does will die.”

Rory’s face turned completely pale.

His eyes turned red.

His whole body started shaking.

The woman’s crying grew louder and more desperate.

Someone asked, “Rory, when did your sister jump in to save him?”

“Tsk, this is such a tragedy.”

No one around believed Rory.

“If you didn’t push him, then why did your sister jump in to save him?”

“Enough already. Just call the police. The sooner we report it, the sooner we can get people to pull out the bodies.”

Luke shot Rory a smug look.

Scarlett had a bad reputation in the entertainment world, and even people in the town had heard about it.

Because of that, the Sanchezes weren’t very well–liked around here.

Someone had already pulled out their phone to call the police.

Rory couldn’t take it anymore. He tried to jump into the river.

He knew that if he didn’t, there was no hope.

His sister had been in the water for five minutes, and there was still no sign of her.

Before Rory could jump, someone stopped him.

The man who still had the rope tied around his waist said, “If you jump in now, you’re just throwing your life away.”

Rory’s mind was a mess.

Suddenly, someone pointed at the river and shouted, “Hey, look!”

Everyone looked up.

In the distance, someone appeared on the surface of the river.

What shocked everyone even more was that in such a crashing current, Scarlett was swimming against the flow, heading straight for the bank while holding the kid.

Everyone stared at her in shock, completely stunned.

How was that even possible?

Even the men in the town who were good swimmers couldn’t move in that water–let alone swim upstream.

The man with the rope tied around his waist looked like his eyes were about to pop out.

Forget the fact that she was swimming against the current–she had been underwater for at least five minutes!

Her swimming skills were insane.

Even he could only hold his breath underwater for about a minute, and that was in clear water. This river was full of mud and sand; one dive and you’d choke.

Luke and Fred’s faces turned pale.

Scarlett actually saved the kid.

Didn’t that mean their lie was about to fall apart?
