“She’s doing CPR. If he still has a pulse, we might save him.”
“How does she even know how to do CPR?”
“I saw her pressing on the kid a few times…”
The boy’s heartbeat slowly steadied.
Scarlett kept pressing a few spots around his stomach.

Not long after, the kid suddenly threw up a bunch of river water and started crying loudly.
Alina saw that her son was alive, she hugged him, cried, and thanked Scarlett.
“Thank
you, thank
you for saving Milo.”
Someone said, “Why are you thanking her? If her brother hadn’t pushed your kid into the river, would this have happened?”
“Yeah, seriously. Those two Sanchez siblings are really-”
“Rory, hurry up and apologize.”
Scarlett looked up, her eyes ice–cold. “Who told you my brother pushed him?”
Someone said, “Luke and Fred both saw it.”
Scarlett turned to look at them.
Luke’s heart was pounding, but he stuck to his story.
“Fred and I both saw it. Rory pushed the kid, and that’s why he fell into the river.”
Rory was shaking with anger. He clenched his fists, ready to punch someone.
Milo had been crying hard in his mom’s arms. When he heard that, he pointed at Luke and cried, “Mom, he’s lying! He’s bad! Those two hit him together, and–and he pushed me! He’s the one who pushed me into the river!”
“Kid, don’t make things up,” Luke said, refusing to admit it.
There were no cameras. No proof.
Milo was only five or six years old.

What a five- or six–year–old said couldn’t be used as real testimony.
“Waaah! Bad guy!”
Milo was so mad he just kept crying.
Alina obviously believed her son over anyone else, and she glared at Luke and Fred.
People around them started to hesitate.
“Well, the police are already on their way. They’ll figure it out.”
“I don’t think Luke and Fred would lie. Aren’t they sponsored kids? Scarlett’s dad and stepmom picked a few kids from the town to sponsor. I heard it’s really hard to get picked–you have to have a good character.”
“Matthew and Leona are really kind. Even after they made it big, they didn’t forget the town. They built roads, donated a school building, and sponsored kids.”
As they talked, the topic drifted further and further away.
Luke felt secretly happy.
Just like he thought, they believed him.
After all, he was a sponsored kid chosen by Leona.
And Scarlett had a bad reputation. Because of that, the Sanchezes were also looked down on.
“Everyone, I’m telling you, Rory is the one who pushed him!” Luke said again, seeing Milo crying hard.
Scarlett looked at him, her eyes turning dark. She took a step forward and suddenly grabbed Luke by the throat. She lifted him straight off the ground! Luke was nearly 5’10” and weighed about 130 pounds, but she held him up like he was nothing.
Luke’s face turned bright red. He struggled hard, his feet dangling in the air.
He was terrified. How was Scarlett this strong?
“Say it again. Who pushed Milo into the river?”
Luke’s face turned purple. He couldn’t even speak.
The townspeople panicked.

“Hey, kid, what are you doing? Why are you using violence?”
“W–wait, how is Scarlett this strong?”
“Hurry up and put him down!”

Scarlett tossed Luke aside like he was a piece of trash. Then she held out her hand to her brother. “Rory, give me my phone.”
Rory handed it to his sister.
Scarlett opened it and pulled up a video she had recorded earlier.
The video clearly showed Luke getting annoyed that Milo kept poking him. Luke shoved Milo, and that was how Milo fell into the river.
“So it really was Luke who pushed the kid into the river.”
“And he tried to frame Rory. That’s messed up.”
