Chapter 85 The Gift That Shouldn’t Exist
The six guests rode in the show’s van back to Brookriver.
Selina went home.
Her family lived in Brookriver.
Their home was large and comfortable.
Both of Selina’s parents had their own businesses.

Selina’s grandfather, Billy Brown, was the President of the Brookriver Traditional Medicine Association
She had been born premature as a child. Her health had been saved and slowly restored by her grandfather.
When Selina got home, her parents were not back yet.
They were always busy and came home late.
When she was young, Selina had grown up with Billy.
Because of that, she was closer to him than to anyone else.
Billy was already in his early 60s, but he still looked healthy and full of energy. His face was rosy, and his spirit was strong.
When he saw Selina came home, he was very happy. “Selina, you’re home? Go wash your hands and eat. I made all your favorite dishes today.”
Selina walked over and hugged her grandfather.
Then she washed up and came back to eat with him.
While eating, she told him about the fun things that happened on the show.
“Grandpa, Scarlett is amazing! I ate the crawfish she cooked again this week. How can anyone make food that good? And–and–today she actually tamed a tiger!”
Selina’s eyes were full of admiration.
Billy was older and didn’t really follow entertainment shows.
Even though his granddaughter was on TV, he didn’t pay much attention.
He just smiled and listened to Selina talk.
Billy knew Selina liked this girl named Scarlett a lot.
As for taming a tiger, he thought Selina was joking, or maybe there was a misunderstanding.

Then Selina continued, “Oh right, Grandpa. Scarlett is really kind. She asked if I was born premature and gave me a bottle of vitality supplements. She said it could help with my poor sleep at night. I’ve taken it for five days. I sleep well every night now, and in the morning I feel refreshed. I’m not sleepy at all.”
Only then did Billy notice that Selina had already removed her makeup.
Her complexion looked much better than a few days ago.
Her face was rosy, and she looked energetic and alive.
Billy paused, surprised.
“Selina,” he said, “let me check your pulse.”
“Okay.”
Selina held out her wrist.
Billy placed his fingers on her pulse.
His expression slowly changed to disbelief.
He knew Selina’s condition very well.
She had been born extremely premature.
If he hadn’t stepped in back then, she wouldn’t have survived at all.
After years of care, her body had improved a lot.
But she had always been a little weak, lacking vitality.
That vitality was something a baby slowly developed before birth. Everyone was supposed to have it.
Because Selina almost died when she was born early, that natural vitality had been damaged.
Even after years of treatment, her body was fine on the surface, but she still had light insomnia and poor sleep.
It wasn’t dangerous. It didn’t seriously affect her life.
But now, as Billy felt her pulse, he clearly sensed that her vitality was slowly recovering.
Billy became excited. “Selina, can I see the vitality supplement you mentioned?”
Selina took out the small bottle and handed it to him.
Billy opened it and poured out one herbal tablet.
The tablet was small, about the size of a pinky fingernail. Yet it gave off a gentle, fresh herbal scent.
Billy smelled it and instantly recognized several herbs inside.

But the formula itself was unfamiliar.
He murmured to himself, “An ancient formula?”
Who made this medicine? The scent was clean and refined, not harsh at all.
Herbs could be brewed as tea or pressed into tablets.

But refining tablets was difficult. If done wrong, the medical effect could become too weak or too strong.
Only top masters of traditional medicine could refine tablets that smelled this pure and worked this well.
Billy asked excitedly, “Did your friend give this to you? Do you know who made it? Did that expert check your pulse first and then specially prepare this supplement for you?”
Hearing that, Selina looked confused.
“Grandpa, no. No one checked my pulse. Scarlett just gave me this bottle during filming this week. She didn’t say who made it. I remember Scarlett’s grandfather used to be a traditional medicine doctor, but he already passed away. Maybe this was something he left behind. Oh, and Scarlett’s face was badly scarred before. She used a scar–removal cream her grandfather left, and now the scars are almost gone.”
Even Selina didn’t realize it.
This medicine had been refined by Scarlett herself.
When Billy heard this, he was even more shocked.
Normally, a traditional doctor needed to see, listen, ask, and feel the pulse before treating someone.
Some extremely skilled doctors could diagnose just by observation and listening.
But no matter what, the doctor had to face the patient in person.
It was impossible to treat someone through a screen.
And Selina said no one had examined her. Scarlett had simply handed her the bottle directly.
Then how was it possible for this medicine to match Selina’s condition so perfectly?
