The Unwavering Heart That Broke novel Chapter 134

Nathalie spotted Daniel staring at her, his eyes dark and brooding. She didn’t bother getting out of her car, just drove right in without looking back.

Her phone started ringing as soon as she parked. She glanced at the caller ID, then pressed decline without a second thought. Seriously? He was so obvious, showing up just to pick a fight. Like she would ever step out just to get scolded.

A smirk played on her lips.

Did Daniel come all the way here tonight for Felice? Maybe Felice ran off to complain about something again. Nathalie thought it was pathetic, honestly.

After a quick shower, she slipped into bed, ready to call it a night. That’s when she heard someone knocking outside her door.

Frowning, Nathalie went to the monitor. Sure enough, there was Daniel standing with the building manager. Her whole mood shifted, her face turning ice cold. They just let anyone in now? Did anyone even bother asking if she was okay with it?

This place was a joke. She made up her mind right then to start looking for another apartment, somewhere with real security.

The doorbell wouldn’t stop. Daniel’s face on the screen just got darker and nastier as time dragged on.

The building manager tried reasoning, “Sir, your daughter’s probably already asleep. Maybe you could call or come back tomorrow?”

Daniel’s voice dropped dangerously low. “Just open the door.”

The manager’s face showed he was stressed. “I’m sorry, sir, we can’t do that without permission from the resident.”

“I’m her father.” Daniel’s patience was running out. “Why can’t I go inside to see my daughter?”

The poor manager had no idea what to do. The whole situation felt tense and weird, and it was obvious Daniel was here to make a scene. Meanwhile, the staff was just stuck in the middle, sweating bullets.

Daniel pounded on the door. “Nathalie, open up. Right now.”

His temper just kept getting worse. He glared at the manager. “Open the door already. What if something happened to my daughter in there?”

“She’s Blair now,” Daniel hissed.

Nathalie shrugged. “She’s still Felice James to me.”

After a pause, she added, “You know, I really don’t get it. Why do you treat her so well? If you’d adopted a son because you wanted a boy, fine, I’d get the favoritism thing. But for an adopted daughter… why do you bend over backwards for her? I honestly can’t figure it out.”

Daniel ignored her question completely. “Did you take Felice’s sapphire earrings? Hand them over.”

Nathalie lifted an eyebrow. “Take? Those earrings were bought for me at auction by Lance. They’re mine. So how did they suddenly turn into Felice James’s property?”

Daniel dropped onto her sofa, sounding tired and defeated. “Come on, Nathalie, can’t you just let it go? If she wants them, give them to her. It’s just a pair of earrings. Why do you have to be so stubborn?”

Nathalie’s face only got colder. “I’ll be stubborn if I want. Why should I give her everything just because she wants it? I want those earrings too. Why doesn’t she ever back down for me? Isn’t the older sister supposed to set an example?”
